if this belongs here but where else to ask? Are the early Benchmade Emerson designs very desirable? I have a CQC7, its a user, but not since it went back to BM for a face lift. I like it a lot and it was a grail knife for a long time. Please give me some insight on this knife.

BM 970's are kinda collectible if LNIB but yours isnt, i would say its worth in the area of $75, maybe a bit more, maybe a bit less, i got a 975Sbt which is similar but a little longer blade in 90% for $75 a while back, so i would say that figure is in the ball park anyway.

the 970's had a 3.5" blade and the 975's had a 3.8" IIRC, with a lotta variations as to SE, blade material, etc, and are similar to(but not the same as) a EKI CQC7, they disco'd the 970 a while back, IIRC '96 or so, maybe '98, about the time when EKI started up, and the BM stryker replaced it.

Keep the Benchmade. I use my 970 as an every day carry knife. It is VERY well made.
