My wife wants a CQC7B production model and she doesn't carer if it has a wave or not. It will be used for everything from opening cans when camping, screwdriver(what can I say she uses EVERYTHING as a screwdriver)cutting open potting soil and odd jobs around the house. My question is this. Do I get her a plain edge or part serrated version? both my CQC6 and production CQC7B are plain edge as I HATE SERRATIONS. But, how useful are they really on the CQC7B model? Thank you in advance.

P.S. She is dead set on the cqc7B even though I tried to convince here a PSARK would fit her better that way if she didn't like it I could give it a happy home in my waistband.;)

openning cans, and a screwdriver? maybe a leatherman ;) get the right one, and you can have both serrations and plain-edge :)

as far as production folding knives go, i haven't found a use for my knives yet that prefers one over the other. a partially serrated knife does give you options if you need it, at the cost of about half the length of plain-edge.

its all compromises. they're both beautiful in the way only something functional can be.

Ask ten people and you'll get ten different answers... Here's mine: Since you don't really seem to have a preference at this point, I'd suggest plain edge. If the knife is going to be worked hard, you will probably appreciate the fact that a plain edge will be easier to repair/resharpen than a combo would.

Hi TTO:D,

Which wife is this, the one that nursed you back to health after the Civilian fight:p:barf:.

I personally like the mini-Commander:D. If you're not TTO you sure did have Sig. line like him, not a good fella to pattern yourself after.

Let's be careful about jumping to conclusions. Libra's grammar is a hell of a lot better than TTO and his clones. I doubt they are related.

Well we went to the knife store today and as it turns out she likes the one EKI design that never really caught my eye. She got a Mach1 I know the owner so he did us a favor and switched the blade with another mach1 so my wifes is a black plain edge with green handles which I must say is a striking combo. Thanks for the advice guys.

edited to ask a quick question.

Who or what is TTO and why am I being compared to him/her?

Libra Guy, TTO is short for "The Tactical One," who posted (several months ago) a story about being attacked by a crook with a Spydie Civilian. He claimed that after being cut on his bicep, he pulled a .40 handgun and shot the attacker, etc.

All totally made up, but he admitted it only after much knashing of teeth and then he came back as several other nom de plumes... Maybe somone else can remember the original thread title. I think it was "Attacked by a Civilian." Some very hilarious, and often sad, reading. Plenty of related threads, too, including my thread wherein I saved a supermodel and got her knife...:)

A very sad series of events, which really riled up a lot of folks, especially after member Satin was falsely accused of being TTO.

Again, your grammar is much better, which would be very difficult to fake. All of TTO/clones were practically illiterate. I surmise your thread title also triggered a bit of paranoia, as on the surface, it looks a little "trollish."

If any comparisons between you and TTO continue, please contact a moderator ASAP to get it cleared up!

Safety Guy,
Thanks for explaining. I found that thread and all I have to say is "what a piece of work". Sorry if my title sounded trollish I'll keep them simple and to the point from here on out.
