Not too impressed with autolawks on my new CRKT M16.

Or maybe I should say "not too impressed with the autolawks on the (probably defective) knife I just bought"

Picked up a CRKT M16-10kz at lunch. Always wanted a M16, never had the excuse to buy one before. Stopped at walmart for something else, saw it, and decided $20 - what the heck. Cute little knife, quality seems ok. Not very sharp out of the box. Flipper is interesting.

Problem: I can easily close the knife without disengaging the autolawks. Not very cool. I just push on the liner and close the knife - guess there's just too much space.

I've had other CRKTs before, never had this problem. Always was sort of impressed by the lawks.

Oh well. Still a fun toy. Don't think I'd ever carry it though.

That's definitely a defect. I would return it to Walmart for a refund. I've examined a couple of those $20 Chinese M16's and they don't exactly have the same fit and finish the Taiwanese M16's have. If you always wanted an M16, I recommend spending the extra cash and buying one of the aluminum handled ones.

Yeah, I'm sure you're right. It was an impulse buy. Oh well.

The rest of the knife isn't bad. No other obvious defects. Lock up is good - no bladeplay at all, liner is just at the beginning of the ramp.

I have the m16-01k (aluminum) and have had no problems. The only thing one would need to get used to is pressing down the red button while pressing down on the liner lock to close the knife. You'll get used to it with some practice. lol... i'm so used to tip up knives! Too bad you cant reverse the clip.
