This design is either the result of cerebral excellence........, or cerebral flatulence.
You be the judge!!

Any and all comments welcome.

Thank you for looking.
Thank you for letting me post here.

Keep Care,

Tim

The fine Print:
These knives are NOT for sale, they are prototypes and the single blade was sold already.
I made these knives, myself, personally, back in November of 2008
I'm posting this here to show off the design, not to promote the knife for sale.
It does no good to promote something that is not available.
It is fun, however, to show a new idea or concept.
I am posting this for FUN

Even if I wanted to, I can't make any of these for a while.

Shame these are not for sale 'cos I would definitely want one
They are fantastic, I recently bought a peanut and found it a bit small but those look great
The blade is not dissimiar to a Khukri
Superb work

No laughter, just curiosity.
What was it that gave you the idea to "bend" the peanut? Looks like a badly healed broken bone. Certainly would make a good conversation starter.
I do like the blades on the ivory one allot. That combo looks very versatile indeed.

Like everything about them from the handle design shape to the blades. Really impressive work sir, thanks for sharing.

Very interesting take on the Peanut. I like the size, larger than the usual Peanut. The blade configuration is very nice. I like the full main blade and the wharnie as the secondary. Could the secondary blade go in front of the main blade like on the old Imperials and KaBar 1026? I would have to try it in hand to see how the handle shape felt. Thank you for sharing with us and best wishes to you.

That is very cool! I would have to play with it to see how the handle feels (Peanuts are generally small for my fat fingers), but I love the bowie blade and the small wharncliffe.

it looks a little like a hoof, maybe a goat hoof:D
Love that main blade:thumbup:
Interesting pattern ya got there

I'm kinda with Ivan, butt end like a hoof, the bend a knee; my first thought was a horses leg... I like it. that bend would be a good grip, and I am a sucker for that blade shape, an agresive clip point that I don't see often on slippies.... Sweet design!

A peanut? No. IMHO, of course :) .
But a fabulous new design? YES!

G.

I'm not sure what I make of it. Maybe if the butt end were done a bit smoother, more of a curve without the corner.

Thank you for the comments. It's encouraging that you don't think I'm more than just regular crazy!! I'm starting out calling it a peanut because that's where I started in the thought process. Where it ends up...........I guess that's all part of the fun!

To answer a few questions:

-I got the idea to put the bend in the knife from some old sheffiled patterns. I saw some things in old catalogs that looked kind of neat. Then I held a sowbelly in my hand with a very pronounced curve and wondered what it would feel like to do something like that with a small knife to make it easier to hold.

-Then, I wanted to put as large a blade as possible into as small a knife as possible. To fit that re-curve blade, the knife has to be bent or it won't cover the blade when closed. I stretched the blade and curved it to get the most cutting edge possible in the smallest space I could. The re-curve blade makes for all kinds of cutting edge. It also makes it interesting to heat treat as I really want to use D2 for the blade steel. ( I luuuuvvvv D2!!! )

-It feels really good in the hand. I have "fat" hands. My wife is kind and calls them 'burly," ........... but they are fat. LOL!!! The bend, combined with the fattening of the knife on the end, makes for an excellent grip on the knife.

Here are a couple more pics for your enjoyment or ridicule. (Relax, I know it is an unusual looking knife. Might as well have some fun with it!!)

Those are really brilliant . . . I'm so glad I clicked on this thread. Thanks!

The single blade version has titanium liners.
The liner/bolster is one milled piece.
Also, the liners are relieved, not the blade.
Just FYI.

Pappy,

I really love your design. Would you please post an in hand pic of the knife? Like Jackknife, I am also thinking if the butt could be softer like a Tony Bose saddle horn. Thanks

God Bless
