Well maybe anyway you judge.

It might be a shocker but I like knives, and one of the first designs I got handed was an imitation 110.

I have bought one or two
Classic production deal - GREAT
Custom shop - GREAT
"Modern" TRX - GREAT
"Modern" Slim Select - MEH

So question is did I just lose out on the slim? My issue just to be clear is it is about as as sharp as a butter knife. I can fix that, but just kind of shocked based on prior great experience with the line. I mean I get is is 420HC, but this is just out of box so not even opening mail. I can run it across skin and there is no blood.

I prefer the classic brass framed 110s, so don't own any of the modern slim, lightweight models. But I think you must have gotten an anomaly. I think it was supposed to be sharp. That is Bucks standard. I'm not going to speculate on how it got missed. But my suggestion is, just sharpen it. I suppose you could return it. Buck has a great warranty, But I think it would be quicker and easier to just sharpen it.

O.B.

That happens occasionally with mass produced budget models, but it's easily fixed. My Buck Slim Pro in S30V came hair popping sharp.

I wonder if this should be in the Buck forum?
Probably .
IMO and info I have seen and been told by manufactures over the years.. QC has a range. If the knife falls within the range, it passes. I've had a couple come dull over to 40 plus years I've collected Buck.
The knife in question probably was done quickly , just before the wheel was due to be re-dressed. I think that's twice a day?

I got a standard 112 slim select, everything you'd expect from Buck, and a 110 slim select with micarta scales and upgraded blade, which was sharp as you'd expect from Buck, but the action was/is still is pretty dang stiff...

Beautiful thing, if you aren't happy, their warranty work will fix it for you...

a lot of these slim select, the cheaper ones have come not real sharp. I have a handful of them that came this way. not that weird in my experiences with this model.

Just received one of the new "stealth" models, ebony, brass and magnacut, perfect fusion of classic and modern. Hair popping sharp, though with the typical somewhat asymmetric grind I've come to expect from Buck ;-)

I used to search pawn shops for ugly Buck 110s. Always looking for a wrecked blade on a decent handle, or a decent blade on a wrecked handle. Got 'em cheap that way.

When I got a suitable pair, I'd do a blade swap.

You guys are lucky with your pawn shops. The one's around me usually have junkie stuff with very high prices.

I think the whole pawn shop scene has changed around the country. Cash America and another major chain were bought by an international company. the good stuff is cherry-picked for one thing. I speculate that money laundering is the main aspect of their business plan.

I have the Buck 110 LT, which is even cheaper than the Slim, but the blade is sharp. Though, blade sharpnout of the box is kind of an overblown criteria of quality.
