Due to the shortage of Stag, W R Case & Sons
will remove all Stag handle knives from their
2001 catalog. There has been a few other company drop some of their models due to shortages.

Is this because of the ban on exports from India? I may have to start running around in the woods with my eyes on the ground!? Any kind of antler could get valuable!

The ban on stag from India has nothing to do with the US government but is the Indian government concerned about the stag in India and banning exportation. That is why Case will not have stag in the 2001 catalog.
