Made another sheath, was not happy with my previous few, various reasons, bad stitching, dried leather, etc etc. Made it a little bigger, made the belt strap a separate piece instead of cut as one piece, used an awl to sticth, also only used one welt instead multiple like my previous (realized I did not need more than one). Also used neatsfoot on it after dyeing as recommended my Dwayne (leatherman) and went with a mahogany dye. Overall, I am happy with it, the separate belt loop adds a little friction instead of the friction coming from the welts and cutting into them with the edge.

Sorry for crappy photo's terrible lighting and an iPhone 5 for a camera.

Left is older one I scrubbed, been using it for testing stuff out on.

Thanks for looking.

I really like the curve of the opening of the sheath , something about the line of that is very pleasing to the eye .
Good job

Nice! I agree with Ken, the nice soft arc of the new sheath mouth is very nice. :)

The belt loop half going inside the sheath is interesting, not sure if I have ever seen that done before.

Does the neatsfoot help your surface drying issue? If it still feels dry after the oil gets soaked in just apply a little more. You want to do this in very light applications. Nothing worse than getting too much oil in the leather, you end up with a floppy mess.

Yeah the oil worked out well, I applied it twice and just dabbed my fingertip with a cloth around so not much at all but it went a long way.

I had originally planned on making it all one piece but thought this up while drawing it out and said what the hell..

Your last sentence is what I have done so often, "What The Heck!!!" :D Lets try it. Best decision ever in most cases. :)

I like the fact that on the new one, the flesh side of the leather isn't visible

Is the little area above the top "box" stitch there to eventually put a ring to use as a dangler?

Actually no, but that is an idea, thanks. I just did not want to get to close to the bend with the stitching, and wanted to make sure there wasnt a hard corner there as I am not in the shape i used to be lol, don't need the handle and hard edge of leather poking into me :D

It looks great and sturdy. Like the curve on the opening, it balances the sharp tip. Great work!
