Anybody have both and can post some pics and let me know your thoughts on the comparison - primarily considering run time?

I know the Novatac has pretty low run time when on Max - but doubt I will use that setting very often at all.

Really thinking hard about getting a 120 P - but I really need to know ball park runtime if running at 10 - 30 or perhaps up to 45 Lumens. - Does anyone know this?

I have experienced about 4hrs with the Surefire (30 Lumens), so trying to determine if the Novatac offers substanially more run time in like setting before I take the plunge.

Thanks a bunch,

sp

Well - thanks to a Fenix post here, it got me looking their way as well for a comparison.

Looks like the Fenix P2D offeres up to 30hrs run time @ the 12 Lumens setting..

Looks like pretty Water resistant too..

Maybe a better question would be is there any one who owns Fenix and Novatac - and which do you prefer when considering the single CR123 Battery models?

Thanks,

sp

a friend of mine has a novatac. nice light, very bright.

but it is MUCH larger than any single cell fenix. and triple the price.

i used to be a die hard surefire devotee. but since i have discovered fenix, things have changed a bit.

fenix lights are less expensive, brighter, and smaller.

i also have the e1l with cree head. nice light, but again, not nearly as bright or small as my fenix l1t 2.0.

if yours is a cree, on the head it will say something like: KX1 CE, and some other little logos.

Even the new version of the E1L is greatly outperformed by the Novatac. But Surefire was never going for all-out brightness, but rather general utility. That's why it's a low-medium brightness light with a huge runtime. The E1B Backup or L1 (Cree) are a better choice IMO than the E1L. But if the higher price isn't an issue, the Novatac gives you more options in a smaller package. Runtime of the Novatac at 45 lumens (or the closest to it-guessing level 19, 18 being 30 lumens and 20 being 60 lumens) should be several hours with a primary (non-rechargable) battery.
