Any of you folks seen one of these for real???http://www.wowinc.com/tachyon.htm

I have a few of the "Old" Samson ground high end BM Balisongs, and this looks like it may be a neat addition for Balisong fans.

Speaking of which, anybody SERIOUSLY field tested the Titanium handled "New" BM Balisongs.

How about trendy Kydex sheaths for them?? all I have is SOME moldy old "Cocoons"

I got to handle it at Blade! AWESOME!!

I'd love to have one. If only I didn't live in Canada, or we had sensible laws.

"Sensible" laws indeed... All based on appearence and a need to keep the populace scared and under control. Those collectivist bastards, with the help of their accomplices in the news media, create unreasonable fears so that they can come up with the "solutions" - meaning, more stupid restrictions based on some "scary factor". It's the same story all over the world.
Makes my blood boil...

The Benchmade Model 42 is an excellent Balisong. They are about ready to introduce a Clip Point Bowie and a Drop Point Tanto, as well as a Latchless Version in the next few weeks.

The Kydex in the picture is made by Clay of www.balisongxtreme.com fame. And it is also excellent.

Hey Dude, if you want one, get one. [shrug] I feel the same way about you as I do Leo, I wish you would both get here and live. If everyone like you guys came here, from all different countries, and all of the liberal bedwetters here moved to countries like Canada, then this place would be alot better.

People don't know their history. Americans especially are almost totally devoid of any sense of their own history.

After the American Revolutionary War, the Loyalists to King George, a/k/a "Tories," were given land for their Loyalty to the King. Guess where that land was?

It was in Canada.

So, all of the Americans who think more in the line of a Modern Day Torie, well, there is already a historical precedent for them to be cared for...it's called Canada.

As far as knives go, I don't feel bound by any law, uhhmmm...because we're talking about knives not nuclear, biological or chemical weapons...

If they banned Balisongs here tomorrow, it's not like I'm going to throw them away or go and admit I own them so they can be melted down to make more handcuffs...which is exactly what it is coming to.

Melt down all the weapons, then we'll make chains out of them with the melted down weapons, and lock you up in them.

Thanks once more, Don. Don't know about Steve, but in my case, it's just a matter of time.
All I can tell you is, I can hardly wait.

Leo,

Let me save you some trouble, if you want to live free, shoot for Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah...some State like that. I live in Maryland and everywhere around it is beat to hell. Even Virginia, W. Virginia and Pennsylvania have Concealed Carry Laws, but so many other stupid ones it defies description.

Don,

Thanks for the reply, does that guy make a belt model sheath? I prefer that mode of carry for a folder.

How about manipulation speed?? Strikes? security of the bolts holding it together??

Thanks!

Don,

What about Florida? I lived there for some five years, and I believe the CCW laws are pretty decent, being shall-issue and all. Have things changed much in the last 10 years?
(In fact, I was considering the Northern/Central part of the State, rather than S. Florida.)

With all due respect to the good folks who live in these places, I'd never consider moving to, say, New Jersey, N. York or Kalifornia. Though the quality of life would no doubt be better than in this here hell hole, it just wouldn't make sense, at least the way I see it. I've had enough of the Socialist way of thinking.

Don, I really value your input. After going through do many of your thoughtful posts, it's obvious to me that we see eye to eye on all the important issues. Hope I'll be able to meet you face to face soon.

Yep, that sheath comes with a Tek-Lok attachment that will let you carry on the belt horizontally and I believe, vertically. I just took that attachment off and rigged it up for neck or pocket carry with the cord. He also makes a sheath specifically for neck carry as well as a double sheath that holds two Balisongs in a "V."

The speed of this Balisong is amazing. Titanium is approximately 40% lighter than Steel is. Plus it is skeletonized. When you pick one up, and you are used to others, you're like, "What is THIS? This is a toy..."

But it grows on you. If you have never flipped before, it is excellent right out of the gate...

I'm used to 4 inch bladed Samson Customs and the Benchmade Model 45 and 48 Production Balisongs, and these Model 42s are very light.

As for striking? They don't have the weight to really start banging on someone's wrist or really clocking someone in the temple. The eyes and nose still remain viable targets for distracting someone and as a fistload/pocket stick, it is still a chunk of metal and will perform well in that mode.

As for longevity, I have beat the piss out of mine, they are holding up well. They are excellent knives.

The Microtech Tachyon is probably going to be a little bit lighter than the Ti Benchmade Model 42.

There is a steel Balisong coming out called the "Roton," but the Manufacturer's name has not been released yet. It should be out by August. It promises to be a real chunker (which I like too) and it is sporting a removeable/changeable latch as well.

I think if Florida emasculates a certain Judge they have who is legislating from the Bench, I think it will be a fine place to live, as of right now...it is scratched off Don's Freedom List because of this. Or, I can just point you to this thread and you can more or less see what happened there lately with regard to some pocketknives.

I think it is sad when a Person feels the need or has to flee the Country of their Birth in order to live their Life free from the constraints that some Men wish to place on them.

In many ways, this Country is a Country of Renegades. It always has been. It was founded by Traitors, they were considered Common Criminals by The Crown. Renegades. However, they created the shining light of liberty throughout the world, and I hope it continues on that way.

Just be aware, there are places almost as oppressive as your Homeland, right here. In some ways...

I hope we do meet one day. We have known each other for years now on this Medium. I think that would be excellent, to say the least.

Don,

I was aware of that stupid (it's pretty much redundant to call a gun or knife law stupid anyway) ruling on automatics. For some reason, I had a feeeling that it would be quickly overturned - wishful thinking, maybe. Not really my style, but I can't claim to be completely immune from it.
We'll see how things go in the Sunshine State.

BTW, I'm feeeling real bad today - it is "gun destruction day" here in Rio, courtesy of the Socialist rulers and their UN masters. They went to the slums this morning with buses and the promise of a meal, so that they could guarantee an audience to that revolting, neo-medieval ceremony - the biggest in the world, as they so proudly claim. God, I can't stand it anymore!

Don, we sure will meet, soon. Until then, take good care of yourself and your loved ones - for as you know, it's all that really matters in the end.

Don,

Benchmade will be making a latchless 42?!? Now I'm happy that I didn't get the regular BM42, because I'm definitely going to get the latchless model.

Indeed, they are going to try to have the Latchless in Production soon, as well as a Production Kris. Yes, you heard it right, a Kris.

The Drop Point Tanto, The Bowie, the Black Powder Coated Handles and the end of the Latchless Prototype can be seen on the following page, courtesy of Chuck Gollnick who reported on them. New Benchmade Production Balisongs

This is about all the information I have, picture Courtesy of, again, Chuck Gollnick and his wonderful website.

The Company has not been disclosed just yet, this is due to be released sometime this summer. It features a removeable/reversible Latch for Latchless, Batangas or Manila Configurations and Chuck compares it to the PC/BM Samson Customs in "beefiness."

By the way, the people making this are shooting for a $100.00 price range. Amazing.

Next to a BM M42.

By the way, if you like the Roton and the price of it, go lend your support for it in the Balisong Forum in this thread.

I do believe the Manufacturer has watched interest in it, and some more enthusiasm would not hurt.

Leo,

You just make it out of there safely with the Wife and anyone else you are bringing with you.

One more Voter here means one more obstacle to "Gun Destruction Day" happening here...along with Switchblade Destruction Day...or, Balisong Destruction Day...or, Insert whatever scares people the most on any given day, Destruction Day.
