Just bought a new REKAT Sifu (every collection HAS to have at least one, correct;) ?)

The blade isn't quite centered between the liners and rubs a tiny bit when I close it. Before I mess things up, is there a simple way to adjust this (without taking the knife apart)?

Sometimes slowly opening the knife while pressing the blade in the direction away from which it is rubbing will cure the problem. You can also try loosening the pivot screw, centering the blade, and tightening the screw while holding the blade either centered or away from the side on which is is rubbing. This has worked for me on other knives before.

I had a SIFU with the same problem. Nothing I tried worked. I spoke with Bob Brothers about the problem and he suggested lossening up up the screws and forcing the blade to one side while tightening the screws. Not a very scientific solution, but I tried it. It did not work. I sent the knife back to the retailer and he replaced it. The relplacement knife was okay.

Thanks for the suggestions. I just didn't want to rush in with a "quick fix" without getting a little outside advice.

cockroachfarm,

Here is what to do IF you don't want to return your Sifu for a replacement, or send it off to Bob Brothers for "repair":

1. Slightly loosen all the screws on ONE side (EXCEPT for the pivot screw).
2. Lightly pound on the top of one side of the scale/liner for awhile with a rubber mallet.
3. Check for blade centering...(Re-pound to adjust, as needed.).
4. Re-tighten the screws.

That has helped to center the blades on a couple of the many Sifu that I have owned.
