When the motor is this large, people are bound to ask; "how many horse power is that motor"? I figure, if I paint the HP on the thing, people wont have to ask. :D
I know it was hell on my back getting it in place.:( 83 pounds:eek:
It was good of them, too put lifting rings in the top.:thumbup: That made it a bit easier.:)
I installed a 6 inch drive wheel also.

I love it :thumbup::D
On the highest speed, it sounds like; this is where its supposed to run.

The three speeds are: 5250----2600----1250 SFM respectively.

With the added power; You can work at much lighter pressures. The metal comes off fast.:eek:

Wanted to share "my new toy", as the wife puts it:o

It was well worth the effort, Fred

Great looking setup Fred:) I know it will do the job right for you. And as before have great Christmas and New Year :D
I had instant respect, for it, the first time I turned it on. I know it would eat your finger in a heart beat.

Have a nice holiday, Fred

Dang,Fred,that things a beast.....I think I have motor envy:eek::D

I am a muscle car kid. I've driven a few, big engine cars; back in the late fifties and mid sixties. There is nothing like, sticking your foot, in a big block chevy.
Turning this on for the first time, I found to be, very similar and much cheaper.:D

V-Rooooooooooommmm, Fred

Awh,,,Chevy, I used to eat up those 427 & 396 es with my Hemi Cuda :eek:,, only kidden Fred ,,,, it was a 67 Hemi GTX :cool: Back in the Muscle Car days, I was a Mopar guy all the way.

Now as far as HP, is that motor really, I mean Really 3 HP :D . As IG said it looks like it could rip your house apart.

thats sweet. i have a balder moter thats almost that big but its onley 1.5-2 hp but it is water proof and stainless steel. thats very very nice.

Now the other question. Single or three phase. If that is three phase you would have one heck of a variable speed grinder. I need to make one sometime.. I have a 5hp to put on it.

A happy new year to you Chuck,

Its a single phase motor. I considered a 3 phase set up with a variable frequency drive, just to get the variable speed option. But after adding all the possibilities I opted for the single.
If you are considering using the 5 horse with a VFD you may find that the cost really goes up when you get into that much hp.
What ever you decide, good luck with it.
I will say;The added hp and belt speed is wonderful to work with.

Fred

Happy new year to you also Fred.

Yeh I am thinking of getting a rotary converter or a transformer. They have both on ebay and for what I am looking for cost about the same. Enough to power the whole thing for a 1 man shop.
