I just upgraded to Premium member so now I can post pics! Of course I'll probably have my membership revoked after posting too many pics, but what the heck:D ;)

Nope. It was taken near Rockport Maine during a photography workshop I attended this fall. However, the first one was in Maui in a town called Haiku at their annual flower festival.

When I click on a thread with pics, the entire thread is held until loading is complete, then I can scroll down. There was no noticeable difference between loading time for this thread and others. On this forum, It is always less than ten seconds.

Rob,

Very nice!! You went to Rockport for a workshop??? I'm really jealous!!! I want to do my MFA at Rockport. I just have to finish my undergrad first (7 classes to go)...

I really like the tree photo. Are you going to be selling any prints?

Alan

I wish I was as talented enough to take pictures of such high quality.
Thanks Keith!:)

Alan,

The Rockport workshop was with a Photographer named Breda Tharp (www.brendatharp.com check out her nature and fine art portfolios! Although her best work is not yet on there), and it was great! I want to take one with Mary Ellen Mark next, just need the $$:D

I am considering going for a M.F.A also, but I don't have a BFA (unless you let it stand for big fat A**:D ). Do you know if they ever accept poeple on portfolio review (and/or bribes;) ).

Check your email regarding prints:)

Ho! You go school in Hawaii brah, Fo Real? You miss da ono grinds and fine wahine? I know I do:D Nah, I'm a Haole from Maine. How boutchu? I just lived there for 3.5 years and started hanging out on HI when I still lived there:)
Did you go to school on Oahu or the Big Island? I have a friend who's a local girl from Maui (born and raised cuz:) ) who went to school on da big island. Man, I forgot almost all my pigeon already! I used to know a fair amount of it--taught local kids and worked with alot of locals.
I'd love to shoot the calender photo;):D Ahhh, if only I was still in Maui--there were loads of yum--er, attractive young surfer women all over the place:D Not to mention the models that showed up to start their bathing suit modeling career there---ok, time for my ice bath;)

Finn,

Do you plan to go for an MFA? Did you get your BFA already? I don't know if they will take me in without it. Its probably a year or more away for me, longer if I need a ton of art credits to get in:( But I'm having a blast getting started in photography, even if I'm not making any money yet:D

Rob,

You must have me confused with somebody else. I have a BSEE but no degree in Fine Arts. I do have a lot of professional experience in graphics and photography. In my real estate business both figure prominately. If you decide to go for it, best of luck!

Rob,

I think you can get in with just a BA if you have the art credits... My degree will be in Communication Arts, with a ton of photography. I know I'd have to have a portfolio review, but I looked it over with my photography prof (he's also my advisor) and he thought I could get in.

Mary Ellen Mark... you wanna go to Cuba too? I thought about that workshop too. I think it would be too cool.

I know their MFA program it really good. Initially, my plan was to take it out of residence and use my studio to work out of... but now (if I ever get back on my feet), I'll do it in residence. I can't think of anyplace more perfect and peaceful to get creative. Although my specialty is really pj... I'd love to work on landscapes, etc...

Thanks for the e-mail on prints. I'll get back with you (and thanks for the offer :)). I gotta run to work.

Alan

BTW... I'm selling my Canon 1n body/motor and 540EZ for $600.00 (in excellent condition) if you know anyone who is looking for a pro body. Gotta pay the bills... :(

Alan,

Sounds like you've got it figured out:) I'm happy for you:) I have a B.S. in biology with only 2 courses in photography and one other art class. I think I would have to do some serious make up work prior to going, but oh well.

Mary Ellen Mark is doing one in Oaxaca Mexico next, I think. But yeah, I'd go anywhere she is teaching anyway:) I was reading about their out of residence plan, and if I do anything it would have to be that. My house is an hour and forty five minutes drive away from campus, and I have a wife and daughter at home too.

Finn,

Whoops:o when you said you would like to be able to do this too" I thought you meant somthing else. Now I realize you meant post pictures:o :D

This, also, is out of my league -- like almost everything. I'm using the cardboard throw away cameras and this junk Kodak DC I paid $550 for. Could probably get $20 for it today.
