I'm at work and loaned out my Benchmade Rukus to a co-worker a couple hours ago. I have reached down at least three times since then and it doesn't feel right. I should have it back in less than an hour. From now on it's two blades at work for me!

You have to learn to never loan a knife! If necessary, get a beater knife and loan that one out, not your primary.

I carry 3 folders everyday. Spyderco Paramilitary, ZT350, SAK RuckSack.

That, and I never loan my knife, but remember,

Rule 9.

Yes I remember rule #9. I will have to change rule #9 to two knives.

"Hey, gimme back my knife!!!!" -you in a couple of hours.

You are braver than I would be.

I carry a dedicated loaner/beater. Currently Hold Out III

That is a terrible feeling. I have forgotten my edc a grand total of two times, and been forced to be without it once (should have been twice, but I forgot about it, and ended up sneaking it into the capitol with me by mistake) and it was a horrible feeling. Like you forgot your pants or something, but possibly worse. I feel for ya man.

If I had a Rukus I wouldn't let that thing out of my site! I keep a Stanley box cutter in my back pocket at work as a loaner. I learned my lesson after I loaned out a shaving sharp Spyderco Caly 3 and it came back trashed....

x2 that's a damn nice knife to let someone borrow.

Well I got the blade back in great condition. I loaned it to the best employee we have. As a mechanic I work on all the equipment they use, and he has never messed up anything, plus he's a friend. He knew how much it cost and didn't want to use it. But he was just cutting a 30 gallon plastic pot a tree was in. Actually I think it's cleaner than when I loaned it to him:)

I've forgotten my knife twice at home. It did feel weird, but I carry a beater in my truck, so that went in my pocket for the rest of the day.

I hear ya man. I've had that feeling when I get to work after running late and realized I don't have a folder on me. There are several times throughout the day I will reach for a knife and be disappointed. I have a small SAK on my keychain, but that usually sits on my desk once I get to work, so I don't really count it.

Can someone fill me in about rule #9 that Moose is referring to?

Wow, you're a braver man than me. No way I would loan out my Ruckus or any other expensive knife. I have a Stanley box knife I let people at work use.

Buy a cheap $1 box cutter and loan that.

People who don't carry knives are what I'd call...wrong.:D

Have you lost your mind man!;) Don't ever loan out your knives, especially the good ones that are discontinued and irreplaceable.

So I posted before reading. Did the coworker do anything stupid? I always carry a slipjoint that I might loan to somebody that I know will not do stupid things with it.

Edited to add;
Just read the entire thing and glad to see you got your knife back with no problems.:)
