Now I understand!

I had been hearing about how great Chris Reeve knives are for many years but I had not actually seen or handled one before. I recently moved to Nashville and did a search for knife shops in the area. I found Nashville Sporting Arms not far from me so I went to visit the shop. He is a small shop but he has lots of high quality knives including Chris Reeve knives. He let me check out the large and small 21s , a 25 and an Inkosi. Now I understand the hype about these knives. I'm going to thin my herd of knives and buy one soon. Now I need to decide which one first!

Good decision. Read all you can in the CRK forum, there are lots of "which one should I get" threads. Keep in mind you current favorite carry and get one similar to that size. They are like Lay's chips, you can't have just one.

Welcome to the sickness. There's not necessarily a "best" CRK as they are all really excellent knives. You may find that there is a best for you. Having said that, I've gone through several trying them out and finding what I like "best". I've bought and sold here on the forum and found excellent deals at times that allow me to try it out, and if I'm not in love with it, I can let it go to a new home and generally come out fairly even, maybe losing some shipping or PP fees. A few dollars to test a high priced knife is worth it. Enjoy the hunt for the perfect CRK.

When I'm ready to buy a CRK, I will probably buy from the guy in Nashville. I usually buy things once and don't flip knives that often. I figure that the little bit extra I might pay to buy from him because of sales tax, is worth it because he has let me drool all over the knives in his shop. I also like to buy local if I can. I will probably start with a small 21 or the Inkosi. The folder I carry most now is a Benchmade Emissary with a 3" blade.

If you start with the Inkosi it might put you off from other models. Mine is the smoothest CRK that I have.

When you do get one, you've got to brag about it and show everyone what you got.
You're doing right in buying from a shop that offers you to handle them to see what fits you the most. Lots of folks don't have that opportunity.

Id let the guy know WHY you are buying from him. Really wish i had a CRK dealer around where i live, because id buy/visit them often.

I also scuba dive and i buy from my local shop because they do all the ordering for me and take care of any issues/service my equipment. I can save money by ordering off the internet, but i dont with certain things because its not fair to my local guy/respect.

Any CRK you choose is a good choice! You have more options than most here, so thats actually saving you money!

It's of great benefit to be able to handle a few models before you choose your first. Definitely patronize that dealer and just choose the one that feels right to you. No wrong decisions here.

That is great that you got to play with a few CRK's!! You can't go wrong with what ever CRK you choose. Is there one you like better than the others?

I went Inkosi for my first CRK and love it. Small and sturdy. I was also looking at the small Insingo. Can't go wrong with either imo.
