After many years of wanting a Khuk, and many years of looking at sites I finally discovered this forum and the HI site.
Then came months of reading what you guys said, pouring over pictures and finally asking questions.

I finally narrowed it down to two models that I was after the M43 (thanks wildmike and carolina river rat), and the YCS khukri (thanks Yvsa).

Well after findout the prices I opted for the M43-although was slighly worried about the 18 inch length and the heavy weight as I am only average height and weight.

Anyway I was waiting for one to be available, I talked to Aunty Yangdu who said none at moment but wait a couple of weeks. Well that was fine but I knew that if i waited I would fritter away the money so i paid for it and waited, still no joy, then after a few weeks Yangdu told me that a ycs had arrived but still no M43's and did I want that instead - she sent me a photo and wow, it was a done deal!

Anyway it arrived last night. Amazing - definitely a floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee model.
17 inches, 28 ounces, and now one less tree in my backyard...

Welcome aboard iBlade ...I see the Shaky Isles are living up to their reputation according to the tv news, glad you don't live in Invercargill. :p

Your YCS at 17 inches and 28 ounces is right on the money in the opinion of many here, especially hollowdweller. The YCS had got heavier over the years but the last few examples have come back to what Yvsa originally wanted.

Happy chopping, but no large scale deforrestation please!:D

Yeah, although I must admit I slept right through it, only chopping non-natives at the moment, Kauris are safe!

Glad that you were not shaken out of your bed.;)

OK with the invasive species, probably Aussies, but I have a variegated New Zealand Christmas Bush in the back yard that could be subject to Khukuri retribution if you start posting photo's of mass vegetative destruction.:p:D
