Okay, I have this problem with my Bear right, (most people do)it stopped latching opened or closed (which I can fix myself) because the blade doesn't fit the handles. They use the same handles on there big a$$ tanto points as they do on there clip points (that's what I have). Therefore the blade isn't wide enough to make the latch work properly in the closed position. The tang pin was to small so it didn't work in the open position anyway. The really big thing is the armor piecing as they call it have blades twice as thick as the bowies and what do they do to compensate, they just crush the handles to the knife to make it fit (kinda.) So this results in the edge striking the bite handle alot.
To make a long story longer I sent it to them to have these problems dealt with and have the knife replaced. i got it today, it was the same knife only it had been repinned and the tang pin had been flattened out some.
So I call them and they put me on hold while they got someone from QC (probably a janitor) and had him tell me that there was nothing wrong with my knife. The safe handle won't move by itself by the way and the edge bites the bite handle everytime you close it. He told me that the handles are designed for the armor piecers and that there was nothing that can be done. he also said it was standard practice to crush the handles to the blade like that to minimize blade play...talk about lazy. He was very rude and told me not to send my knife back because I'll get the same knife back.
I finally told him "thanks for nothing I guess I'll have to invest more in Benchmades from now on." Anyway, this is kind of a parable so don't put yourself through the anger and heartburn and just DON'T BUY BEARS.
