Hi
I just cut through at least 15 nylon zip-ties with my new BM Mini Grip NRA Combo edge S30V knife. I thought it would be heavy duty for this knife, but afterwards I still can shave the hair of my arms (literally). What a great edge holding!
I think this will be the beginning of a beautiful friendship!

and you actually expected less from s30v?

I've went through an entire month cutting plastic zip ties and clam shell packaging with a full size grip in 154 and only after dropping it did I need to touch up the edge. 3 minutes on my sharpmaker and it was g2g, so for s30v I would say it should last at least twice as long if not more.

BM has some great heat treats that were the real performance lies.

S30V is a pretty good steel, isn't it?

I looked at the NRA Grips, but I'm rather flush with combo blades at the moment.

Oops - forgot to add "Congrats!".

The serrations comes in handy when cutting zip ties cables. When they´re really tight and you can´t get the knife beneath it, just saw your way throw the plastic with the serrations. Much harder with a PE.

That is one of the reasons I choose a combo bladed knife sometimes to my EDC.

Serrations come in handy for cutting reinforced belts, too (wish I'd had one recently for that - took the edge off my plain edge big time).

I was going to ask this question even before I read your later post, confirming what I thought. It sounds to me like you didn't cut through the zip ties you sawed through them with the combo edge.

Did you shave the hair on your arm with the combo edge or the plain edge and what was your primary edge used for the zip ties, plain edge or combo edge?

Well... I had all my cable behind the tv put together with zip-ties. Tv-cables, audio cables, computer cables, power cables etc. (it looked like a big worm). When I should remove my computer speakers I had to cut all zip-ties. Now, som was lose and som was very tight. I could use (and I did) the PE on the lose ones, and sawed my way though the very tight ones. And these bastards can be pretty tough to cut. But with this knife it was quite easy. Afterwards I could shave armhair with both the PE and the SE. Love this knife!
