Now that I have two Tasman Salts....

I'm waiting for UPS to deliver my second Tasman (a yellow PE to accompany my yellow SE), when it arrives, i'll have three true Hawkbill blades....

now, ever since i got the SE Tasman, it's replaced the Harpy in my EDC arsenal, i basically only take out the Harpy to play with it, for my purposes, the Tasman is a better knife, totally rustproof, easy to strop/sharpen, and can get to a truly *terrifying* level of sharpness, it actually does a better job cutting cardboard boxes and blisterpacks than the Harpy, basically thanks to it's slightly thinner bladestock

I like all my knives to be users, not safe queens, i'm in the process of collecting up a bunch of my unused knives to trade in for store credit at my local sporting goods shop, simply because I don't use them, I don't want to end up as a hoarder, problem is, after i trade the knives in, i'll turn right around and use the funds to buy *another* knife, i won't be making it too far ahead in this game....

So, the question is, what to do with the Harpy, part of me wants to trade it for store credit, as it won't see much use thanks to the Tasmans, the other part of me says to keep it, it's always good to have backups, and the Harpy is a true classic Spyderco

then there's the highly illogical "sentimental" side that says to keep the Harpy, as it's the blade that got me into hawkbills (well, actually, the Cricket started the obsession, then i wanted a slightly *bigger* curved blade) in a serious way, who knows, perhaps i can pass it down to my nephew when he's old enough, start *him* off on the road to Hawkbill obsession, but since he's only 4, and has an impulse-control problem, it'll be a while before he's even ready for a SAK, let alone a high-end Spyderco

So, keep and archive, keep it in the EDC rotation, trade it back, or hand it down to Logan when he's old enough?.....

I have a tendency to keep knives with "special" memories associatted with them.

Keeping it also leaves open the options of EDC, gift, etc.

Keep it.

1st Spyderco I ever got was a SS SE Harpy back in 1987-88, believe it was the 1st year they were made. As the years went by I moved on to more "tactical" type knives. Eventually I gave it away, or traded it, to a fellow soldier. While I know it went to a good home I miss it.
