Now that the 2011 Catalog is out... it's time for an update on the Tuff...

So, Sal, how about an update?
We (I) noticed the Tuff isn't in the 2011 Catalog. Does this mean, no Tuff in 2011, or? We know that things have been modified and apparently the Tuff will no longer have the integral compression lock, and has gone the RIL route... (Right?) This is the last news, as far as I know... So how about an update?

Do they do sprint runs of models not in regular production? Or will it just be a limited production run?
 
Just keep in mind, the 2011 catalog is for knives expected in the first half. A supplement will come out later in the year for new knives to come out in the second half. And as if that weren't enough, there were quite a few knives that weren't in the 2010 catalog that suddenly showed up on the market...so I wouldn't take the exclusion of the Tuff from the catalog to mean a whole lot.
 
Jabba is right. Also, I seem to recall Sal writing in a thread somewhere that he ordered the steel for it. That usually signifies it's on the production schedule somewhere. What priority and time will be seen. Joe
 
Ive been waiting for a catalog for like the past 5 weeks. Guess it must be
because their waiting to send the 2011 catalog instead of giving me the 2010.
Hope it comes soon.
 
You can always download it so you can at least take a look. The link has been given in multiple threads or a quick Google search should turn it up.
 
There is a spyderco.com thread from a year and a half ago saying it would be out in 6 months. Never heard about the knife until just now. Any pics or idea what it looks like?
 
I've seen a glimpse of it in a youtube video, all I remember is it's huge and has finger grooves. Of course that was a while ago and it could look totally different now

:eek: Wow, I was unaware of any footage or photographs of the Tuff. Think you can dig up a link?

Sadly no. It seems it almost went into production. Things happen I guess. Manufacturers break contracts, suppliers have issues, the product has issues, etc. Hopefully not another 4 years lol.

I'd hoped that switching to an RIL would've sped up the process, but...
