now thats a knife

The handle completely fills one side of my screen. Tht is a K Knife.
What's the deal with the "Cho" ?
I haven't seen one like that before.
Is what appears to be a small hole in it for lightening purposes or to better balance the blade to handle weight ratio?

That is interesting Uncle Bill. Is that a hole or just a circle inscribed on that part of the Cho?

DZ I am sure that it is the Webtv format that is causing the problem for me.
I just measured the image the best I could and it came to about 54" long.
I am setting at my dining room table and the TV is 15' away. There are a many things that the Webtv can't do like a real computer can. It does provide an excellent, cheap way for old poots like me to get on line though. It is also very easy to use.

I imagine that I am the only one that can't see a proper size image. I like the pic you put up anyway. It truly adds credence to "That's a Knife!."

I don't think you hve any reason to be concerned. It might be nice if you could get some feedback from some of the other forumites who have computers if you want the image to acurately portray a 20" Kuhkuri. I really like what you have done with the site!

I think you mentioned T-shirts. I would love to have a couple of them with the HI logo you have came up with. I know my wife would like them too. Most of ours now are Indin related somehow.

It's a hole thru, Yvsa, and in 1940 in the Salyan area I don't know how they were able to make that hole so nicely. That cho looks like it was done in a modern machine shop but I know this is an impossibility.

the file is a 6.9 by 22.6 inch 72 dpi gif

but web tv does some funky stuff with resolution to make text sharp on screen

i have reuploaded the file with a ruler overlay

thats not a knife thats a short sword!
what is the tip to pommel measurement on the real mascot blade?
how long is a 20 inch AK? http://thematrix.acmecity.com/one/40/hi/bigk.gif

Uncle Bill.
I know the real craftsmen always have thier ways. I worked with an old machinist one time that could seemingly do the impossible with nothing. It still amazes me at the talent many of the older cultures still have. It comes down to survival and passing the teachings down to the young ones. Too bad from what I have read that the young ones would rather have the easy jobs. I suppose that is true in any culture.

dZ I printed the ruler overlay out and it comes really close to what my yardstick measures. It gave me a better picture of what it should be.
I think I have read where some of the 20" Ang Kholas were up to 22" long.
Looking at the print out and knowing the 20" AK has a 5/8" spine leaves me in awe. I appreciate the ruler overlay and being able to do that.
I have a whole new understanding of the size now.
