I was skimming the recent thread about whether or not some people buy used knives. To each his own. I not only buy used, I'm like the lady who adopts one eyed, three legged cats. Here's one I picked up at the bottom of a bin of used knives:

After a hot bath, oiling, a little touch up on a stone, she's good to go in the pocket:

I love "experienced" knives. Nice find.
That Case looks as if its original owner owned one knife. :D

Wonderful Knife, any idea the age on that beauty?

According to the tang stamp, it should date from 1965 - 1969

Yeah, it's not as old as I thought, but it certainly has some miles on it.

It looks like someone's a little heavy on the stone. That knife has been way over-sharpened. I'm sure many of us are guilty of it, but.....

That's not pocket worn!

It's beautifully burnished by the loving hands of someone who carried and used it for many many years. And yes, there is lots of life left in that knife.

Carl.

You think that's oversharpened:

I've come to appreciate the unique profiles that come from well used blades. It seems like every one will eventually become either a recurve or a modified wharncliffe. :D

Anyone else carry 'well loved' knives?

What a beauty.. is this a 3 3/8" model or a 3 5/8" model?

Well worn, but not abused. Still has a good deal of life left in it. I like it, has character.

Wow that one's seen LOTS of use and yet was obviously well cared-for by it's owner. What a great find!

Very good pattern as well, semi-sunk joints a big plus.

Well used and pocket polished for sure. I sometimes think that modern sharpening systems may be more accurate and sparing on steel in the long run. People assume that everybody in the 'old days' knew how to sharpen knives really well. I suspect people were pretty cack-handed at it then too! A great rescue, well found.

Glad I wouldn't be condsidered "old" in your eyes.... seen a few miles myself. :D

it might be pocketworn but it wasnt your pocket that made it that way.:p
It would take more years than you or I have been alive, to get a knife looking like that.

Sweet old Case, r8shell. Love the color of the bone.
