This is a WWII vintage short sword attributted to the Batak headhunting tribe (retired?) of Sumatra. Some very odd markings on this one, but it does have some age and is very nicely balanced and forged. The blade is a full 3/8" thick at the base, but narrows quickly for a strong and lively knife. Notice that it has a cho like fixture at the base of the blade. I believe that this, like the cho, is a fluid drip intended to help keep liquid flows along the edge from flowing onto the guardless handle.

Now this is what a "neck" knife use to be. :D

"Neck knife" or "neck removing knife" :D

Maybe if I get a nifty blue grid and a digital camera, some of these nifty little things we're always seeing pics of will get lost and wind up in my collection! :D

Just keep trading. Most of my stuff has cycled through many collections

If I wore that rig hanging from my neck I wonder if the cops would stop me when I ride my bike around Virginia Lake? They don't see the little AG Russell 8A I carry in my belly pack.
