i EDC 3 knives, a Dyad Jr, a Native, and an Endura, so *what* do i get a massive cut on, requiring a trip to the emergency room for a tetanus booster and dermabond suturing?

a frakkin' *computer case*, an old Mac G4 Mirror Door case with a thirst for blood, it took a good 1/4 inch gouge out of the side of my left hand middle finger. looks like i spiked myself with a wood gouge, gonna' have a cool scar from *that* one....

i mean, here i am, with 3 shaving-sharp knives on me, and a frelling computer case bites me.....

oh well, murphy's law, right? ;)

Maybe you'd better buy a new briefcase from Lands End. They are all canvas. Kind of like a Nerf Briefcase for klutz'.

To clarify, the G4 MDD is a tower case;

Been there, only with a freakin nail someone cut off instead of pulling out and with the insides of a reel to reel tape recorder

I did the same thing, but on a cheapo "bare bones" kit case.

Made me think that they call it "bare bones" for a good reason!

yeah, i know, it would've *amputated* that finger and given me a fatal virus to boot....

i keed, i keed, but windoze-based pc's and i get along like positrons and antineutrinos.....

ahh yes, i'm a geek, GLAVIN! ;)

Seems every time I work on a computer the "silicon gods" demand some sort of blood sacrifice......

One of several reasons I'm glad I'm not the IT guy for my uncle's business anymore....

Yep, the insides of cases are often jagged and sharp, especially the old metal cases. I've worn a few computer-related bandaids myself. Still, I can't help messing with them.

So I've carried razor-honed knives around since I was a Cub Scout. So naturally the worst cut I ever gave myself was with an old tin can. I was sort of ripping it apart by hand and slice a big scalloped gouge into the pad of my thumb. I did that about 43 years ago and the scar is still conspicuous.

I'm not sure which one is geekier, that entire paragraph or the fact your worst scar to date is from a computer.

:)

A sacrifice to the computer Gods is probably right. The last bad cut I had was from a spool of computer, network cable. I put my fingers in the middle of the spool, and pulled the loose end of cable. The inside metal boss was like a razor and cut all four fingers.

Nope, because if he were using a PC he'd still be installing drivers, running installers, and rebooting in safe mode after all the crashes.

sorry... I couldn't resist either. :D

Have some cuts from back when I was a PC guy building computers. Stupid jagged cases. Fortunately, nothing ever goes wrong on my macs, so I've only opened the case once to add some memory.

Hear you on that one:) How about the back of the those cards? Those things can gouge you pretty good as well. OR when you yank either the power connector to some device while it's still inside and slam your hand into the power supply and/or some other sharp object, because you don't have the time to fully remove the thing in the first place? We are moving to rack mount servers and so I'm expecting a little finger pinching when we mount the server into the rack on the sliders - it usually takes two to mount those:) My usual is I'm walking with folder/blade in hand and not paying attention to where I am and catch a corner/door on the way thru:D I do get the odd bite from a blade, but probably get hurt more on other things - gotta be age:D

yeah, computer cases are sharper than some knives. thats why i have little plastic guides along the edges of the inside of my computer cases, its saved me a lot of blood.
