I lurked with you guys and finally could not resist I now I got a Hawk (H&B). What do you guys use to practice throwing and what will my neighbors think?
Thanks for the interest.

A slab cut off a big log is probably best and most traditional. However, if you can't get one (like me), consider a 4x8 sheet of plywood with an extremely dense foam archery target mounted in the middle. Mine is rated for crossbows and has very dense foam. The ten-inch center piece is replaceable. It takes a lot of throws before disintegrating.

It's great fun, my neighbors won't even look at me. I have a target setup in the back yard with 6 rounds stacked up and a 4x8 sheet of plywood as a backstop. That setup is used with the plywood backstop 'cause I also throw double-bit comp. throwing axes. I throw bowie style knives as well as knives purpose made for throwing. Currently I throw 15 differant knives, 2 sets are matched throwing knives. One is a set of Cold Steel Carbon V (14") throwers from Two Hawks. I have 2 competition throwing axes, a Gransfors Bruks and a Tuatahi from Baileys. I have 9 hawks, 3 competition Hawks and a Voyageur from Two Hawks, these are the absolute best hawks I've ever seen or handled, and as long as you do your part, they stick, Hawks are a blast to throw and you can't go wrong with the tools that Two Hawks makes. My other target setup is in my front yard ,about 8 feet from the sidewalk, it's a log round that fits in a convenient spot between 3 limbs of a maple. I hurl my hawks and knives at the tree. Of course I don't throw when there is any pedestrians or cars going by, but, people hustle past, without looking in my direction. I ride a Harley and have a large beard. I'm sure that my neighbors all are quite nervous, but, no one ever asks to borrow anything, and I don't have to deal with any whiny sheeple with liberal attitudes or ideas. I really don't fit into the neighborhood, but divorce can sometimes force you into a living situation that you just have to accept. I'm making the best of a bad situation, and having a blast. Hurl a hawk, you'll enjoy it! I'll bet it won't be long before you are throwing knives too!!!!!!! Mike
