City's 'oldest man' actually dead for 13 years

ITAMI, Hyogo -- A man, who was believed to be the oldest man in Hyogo Prefecture until his decomposed body was found earlier this month, actually died about 13 years ago, police have said.

Kyujiro Kanaoka, from Itami, was believed alive at age 107 until his decomposed body was found at his home.

After Hyogo police officers analyzed his body and questioned his relatives, they said on Wednesday that Kanaoka died from illness or old age sometime around 1992.

Hyogo Prefecture and Itami city officials plan to ask the relatives to return pensions and other types of old-age allowances paid after he died.

The city then will probably refund monies paid into elderly care plans by his relatives after his death. (Mainichi Shimbun, Japan, March 24, 2005)

That's right; it's voters like him that gave Washington State the kind of Governor they have today.

Sore subject, Munk. :)

It took them three tries, but they finally rounded up enough corpses and ghosts to beat Rossi. We're still scratching our heads over this one. Previously, I had thought that this only happened in those other countries.

If at first you don't succeed...
