On Saturday, my wife, son, father-in-law, and I attended the NRA Annual Meeting in Indianapolis. 75,000 people, 800 exhibits, 15 acres, 8 hours. (Editor’s note: I love my wife. She is such a trooper.):) A few of my highlights were spending time at the Weatherby booth, the “Collectors Corner” featuring beautiful vintage Winchesters, and the Rock Island Auction booth displaying outstanding firearms from Holland and Holland, John Rigby, Wesley Richards, Purdy, Colt, Luger, to name a few.

There were also several knife companies exhibiting including Spyderco (met Sal Glesser), Benchmade, Case, Cold Steel, Kabar, Ontario, Bear & Son, Smoky Mountain Knifeworks, many more, and of course, our beloved Buck Knives. CJ Buck, Larry Oden, and three other gentlemen were working the booth being exceptionally friendly and welcoming to anyone who approached them, which made me even more proud to own their knives. I got to see the new 110s and 112s with the solid ebony scales. Boy, are they beautiful! If you have one on order, you’re going to love it!

Anyway, I spoke with CJ for a while and showed him my old 110. He said it was a beauty and that I needed to use it more. I said, I use it every day...to open mail. He said, beware of paper cuts.:D Then I asked him for a favor, which he graciously accepted…

Having met many at the 30th Anniversary, I found that being exceptionally friendly and welcoming is something that those folk do incredible well. I too, am proud to own the knives as well.
