NRA Buck 110-style knife

I received a knife from the NRA for renewing my membership, and it looks to me like a copy of the Buck 110. Its blade is stamped "China" and that is the only marking (aside from the NRA logo). The blade is reasonably sharp (haven't really used it), and it locks up fairly tight. The finish on the handle is quite nice.

Anybody know anything more about this NRA knife?

Nope, but if the NRA is sending out CCCC (Cheap China Crap Copies) knives as membership incentives, they're sending the WRONG freakin message!!

I'm a lifetime member, and if what your saying is true, I'll be contacting them and voicing my disapproval!

P.S. Would you mind posting a couple pics of the knife you received?

I recently got a China multitool from them. Considering that I only keep my best multitools and SAKs, it was a real bummer even seeing that POS. But I understand they are trying to stretch membership dollars to save them for advertising  which they seem to specialize in.

Yup, I've gotten a few myself. And 100 offers for them to send one back to me.

I plan on renewing my membership every year, yet they spend that money on stamps to me in the first three months. I'm actually getting a little turned off by all the junk mail (and spam) I get advertising there latest book or gym bag, if I didn't believe in the cause, I may not renew my membership based on all the junk mail.

I had to chuckle, I just received an email from the NRA with the subject heading "Freedom is Made in the USA!"

I had a rather heated discussion last year with someone from the NRA/ILA, basically about the fact that every piece of mail I get from them is asking for money. I got one of those URGENT - OPEN IMMEDIATELY letters from the NRA/ILA telling me to prove I'm a patriot by giving them more money; then someone called the next night.

I've told them for several years to quit sending me stuff, and just use the money for regular NRA business. Yet I still get pot-metal knives & tools packed in ratty cardboard boxes that smell like formaldehyde. Aaaaarrrrgh. :grumpy: I throw them away.

Okay. Rant's over.

I will say that knife that Swedge got looks better than anything the NRA ever sent me.

thx - cpr

Yes, yes, I know. "The sky is falling, the sky is falling! Please send money now!"

I'm sure most of us will have no problem believing that this is the number one complaint the NRA gets from its members. I've even discussed this with people fairly high up in the organization. Yet nothing changes.

I prefer to look at the positive things they do, and yes, they do enough positive things that it's really not all that hard to overlook the few negatives.

As far as the multi-tools and knives go, yeah, they're cheap pieces of junk. You'd be surprised how many people are happy as a clam to get a "free" cheap piece of junk, though. If you don't have any use for yours, give it to someone else. Maybe it might even present a good opportunity to talk to them about some of the good things the NRA is doing.
