Hello Buck Forum! I had a love letter from the NRA asking for money, and they are offering for a 24 dollar donation to gift you an orange bucklite lockback folder. USA made, but I can't tell the model number, almost looks like 422_. It also has NRA-ILA laser engraved on the blade which I love.

I like helping the NRA, but was wondering how good this knife is? I have no Buck blades!....so this may be the first. Thanks.

Here's a few pictures, the first two are of orange Bucklites. The bottom is the newer version of the 422. The last picture is the older style 422 with the drop point blade.

The newer one has the same blade as the 112 Ranger so it should make a great knife for you.

It happens Plumber ;)

Yo Mama, if it is in fact a 422 for that donation, it's a great deal, win win all around:thumbup:
those are great using knifes, very light, good steel, and a pretty tough design...I've got a couple and love 'em!

Thanks for the info! I'll have to send them a donation here.

You can think of the Bucklite 422 as being the "third flavor" of the Buck 112. All three flavors use the same blade made of the same steel.

You have the standard 112 (with its wood-and-brass handles), the EcoLite 112 (with its handle made of PaperStone) which is lighter than the standard, and then you have the 422 BuckLite (with its FRN [or ETP] handle) which is lighter still.

I have the 426, which is the larger "110" class knife in orange FRN/ETP. If memory serves, it's less than half the weight of the standard 110 (there's a post where I wrote all those weights down), but nonetheless has the regular 110 blade and consequently the same performance.

If the NRA guys are offering the Buck product as their promotional knife, then I'm pleased indeed. I've been reading gripes for years about how a company that serves such a distinctly American cause should not be be sourcing it's promotional knives from overseas.

If there's any single knife company worthy of the "all American" appellation, it's Buck.
