Had a great time at the BIG SHOW in Kansas City this weekend! I met Travis from Benchmade and had the honor of talking with Les; what great guys! I took a look at a prototype 42 with a new handle treatment and got the inside scoop on a couple of new blade styles that will be revealed at the Blade Show in Atlanta. I'd love to be the one to let everyone in on the latest but I've been sworn to secrecy.........Les talked about Gollnick and how much fun that was had at the Oregon Knife Show and I'm sure Atlanta will be no different. If any of you folks ever get the chance to introduce yourself to Mr.DeAsis, you'll find him to be one of the nicest and most personable people you'll ever meet; that also goes for Travis and the whole crew from BM that I had the pleasure to talk with. Look for some REAL NEAT 'stuff' for the balisonger's coming from Benchmade!

PS- Don't ever think that these guys don't keep up on what's going on with these forums! Hell, Travis recognized who I was from my name tag when I walked up......

Les and Travis are both great fellows. And if you have a chance, don't be afraid to walk right up to Les. He is as friendly and approachable as they come.

Oh, and yes, this forum is read at BM at the highest levels. I'm sure it's also read at Microtech as they are entering this market, and also at a couple of other major knife companies. It's kind of exciting. I really don't think that there's any other forum that has as much high-level readership as this one does. Crazy. So, now you know what if feels like to live in an aquarium.

So, Darth, how does it feel to know that CEOs and boards of directors of major companies are following the details of your love life?

And if they do read this, it is my wish that Benchmade retain their position as *THE* Manufacturer of this type of knife. I hope they do.

They are without a doubt the best guys to talk with.

And I'm with you on that one Don.......

Though I am VERY happy to see other makers getting involved and putting out their products.

Nothing looks, feels, or works, quite like a Benchmade Balisong. I think they will always be my primary Bali of choice.

My knives!

Sweet. I hope they introduce a bowie blade of some type or a stiletto. That would be neat. When is this show?

Well, since they read these then here goes:

We are not a bunch of computer geeks with too much time on our hands, we love knives and in particular; balisongs. I love all my BMs and my PC custom (

) more and more, they are like good friends that I see each day. Whatever happened in the past that caused the custom line to be discontinued is in the past, hopefully BM will start producing the custom line of Bali-Songs once again. I can't wait to get my 30S and 45 back from BM, they only have 1 gentleman who can fix/deal with out-of-production Bali-Songs. Maybe I should work for BM fixing the Bali-Songs

That would truly be a dream job!! I am totally serious!!!

Thanks for listening to your followers BM, you guys and gals are doing a freakin' fantastic job!!!!

I went to the KC show as well, easy to get to, as I live here

I had never handled a BM42 before, and the kind people at the Benchmade booth allowed me to do so, as long as I didn't cut myself. I must admit at first I was sorely disappointed, it felt so light. Then, as I stood there flipping it glumly, the light struck me, and now I hafta have one. However, after seeing the prototype, I think I'll wait for one of them

I don't mean to spill any beans that weren't supposed to be spilt, but I wasn't sworn to secrecy. Besides, they said they wanted feedback on it. The new prototype handles are powder coated titanium, and IMHO the powder does wonders as far as grip is concerned. Very nice looking, as well. He said the price might be the same, might be $10 extra, he wasn't sure.

Hmmm, interesting, I wonder if we've got a trend going since that's what the Advanced Tech has, a powdercoat on their T6 alloy handles. Were they a black powdercoat as the Advanced Tech is?

I do like the looks of the black handles, altho I prefer my plain 42S's handles to my anodized 42A's. But, it's the "couple of new blade styles" that's really got my interest ... I guess I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an Imada High Hollow & Scimitar, with the option of Damascus/Damasteel ...

I guess I wasn't too fatr off on that powdercoating idea. If you decide to powdercoat your own knives (or anything else for that matter) make sure it can withstand the heating process (Blades especially)

LOL! I never even thought of that

. Well at least they know that there's some personality and more than one woman who likes balisongs.
