well i guess that this is a review. just a bit off topic, but what else is new around here? anyway....
so on saturday i had the opportunity to travel down to Louisville KY to the NRA show and meet Thomas W. Thomas, being the generous guy he is, offered to get me in (and also a friend after i mentioned it lol), and also a dinner invite.
i got to the show around 3:00-3:00 i think, and met good ol TW. He gave us our passes, and we proceeded to wander around the show looking at just about every gun imaginable. towards the end of the show (i am gonna get ribbed for this one) we headed over to the Kershaw booth. There I got to play with the Skyline, Shallot, Ener-g 1 and 2, the ET (that one will take some getting used to), and the composite JYD2.
so my thoughts, though brief, on the above knives.
Skyline: man is that knife small and lite. feels secure though. wasnt the best flipper, but it wasnt broke in yet. great blade shape and handle for sure. i dunno if anyone said it, but its the little brother to the RAM.
Shallot: i now see what you mean, when you guys say its a Leek on 'roids. Flips great, feels good in the hand, looks good. definatly will be picking one up, just not in all silver lol.
Ener-g 1&2: ok, ener-g 1. nice fit in my hand, though a bit small (ya ya ya w/e lol). great blade shape, and VERY cool flipper. I would love to sit down and just play with the knife to learn more about the flipper. Ener-g 2...DANG it is small. very small. wasn't much longer than my palm when open small. other than that, same thoughts as the Ener-g 1. on last thing, my first thoughts were "baby boa" when holding it lol.
ET: THATS going to take some getting used to. Lets just say its reputation proceeded it when i viewed it. Innovation doesnt quite describe it. I am sure that with time, I will grow to like it alot and become quite good at opening/closing it, but right now that aint happening lol. one to pick up just to play with
JYD2 composite: super light, and, imo, flips better than the original JYD2, which i do have. beautiful up close, feels great in the hand, and just plain rocks. i will be getting it in a few months when my birthday comes up i am sure.
as for the rest of the day, we all went to dinner and had a pretty cool dinner conversation(s). TW is a nut, but we all expected that
.
overall it was a great time, and makes me wish i could make it down to Blade 08'.
THANK YOU again Thomas, for your generosity.
well with that, it is time to go get some lunch...let the all the compliments at TW and the jabs at me (you know who you are *cough*mike*cough*) begin.
