I have a 76ish 110 with 4 brass scale pins. I've not seen this on any other 110's except from that era. The 70's and 80's 110's I have pulled apart with 3 scale pins have the 4th scale pin hole present but not used.
I pulled apart an 86 NS Workman 110 (for my 100th Buck 110) and found this to be true on it as well. I have never seen a 110 NS with 4 scale pins (not counting the rocker pivot) have any of you guys?

I can't comment about the NS; however, I have a brass Two Dot with three small scale pins that has the frame drilled for four pins. Of my two Two Dot knives with three large scale pins, one is drilled for for pins, the other is not. This looks like another case of using up older inventory and may help in dating, or at least in putting the variations in the right sequence.

Bert....

At that time (74-75) the brass frames came to Buck like that, with that number and series of holes. So, Buck thought they could utilize all the holes in the effort to move from glueing to pining the slabs. Hence, the first 2 dots utilized pins in all those holes per Bill Keys, with small pins. As mfg. went on the 3 large pins were settled upon (1979). That NS frame showing the holes is rare. DM

It says that the first 2 dots were two handle pins in Joe's data sheet (5th/4th). The four handle pins came next (5th/5th) according to that. This is how I've listed mine anyway.

Is Joe's data sheet wrong about this?

No don't read something into it. You would have had to been in on other readings. DM

Are you saying the four handle pin 2 dots are the first 2 dots?? I haven't got the knowledge about these things like you, so I have to go by the data sheet above in the sticky. Just trying to make sure I am not missing anything. Thanks. :)

David must be hunting, Geez where are all you 110 guys at.....is the 300 guy going to have to answer this....this is sad......

Stumps...like many times with other models and parts ....the four hole liners were made "in mass" and when design changes occurred they could be 'utilized' till they were used up. Only three holes used, the fourth hole is just hiding..... This type of thing comes up frequently if you keep track....its just smart business. Just like Camillus put together some left over 300 parts and sold them at the end. I don't this could be considered a "version" factor.

300Bucks,

Before you get too hard on the "110 guys", read all of the posts. Post #2 "This looks like another case of using up older inventory and may help in dating, or at least in putting the variations in the right sequence."

I stand corrected.....just consider me a echo....110 guys need some ribbing now and again to keep the world in balance......300

Bert, Think nothing of it. He's always ribbing me 'or trying'. Its all in good fun. I know they were always there.
Stumps, just go by whats stated in the data sheets. DM

I've just realized that some older custom shop stags use two scale pins, the one up top and the third on the bottom. Perhaps this is one reason why it remained in the frame
