There is rock art here , its eerie to be taking pics of it now , and seeing new features of it appear in the camera that isnt visible so easy on the all with just my eyes .

The trees get to me , they have a unique beauty of their own .

This is a bit of a land mark around here , near Dunneedoo , yeah its a real town name .
this is just a rock ,but its in midle of a flat plain .. nothing like around it that I know of .
This rock is a fair way away from where we had been exploring , it took us a couple hours to get to it .

I have more pics of caves and overhangs but Im having some issues uploading at moment .
Anyway , thats a quick look at my Saturday , hope you enjoy it .

Thanks for the pics. Looks like a fun day. Love that last photo..... Leaves you wondering.

I been trying to figure that rock out as long as I been here in the state .
Glad you like the pics :)

OK , got some more uploaded .

some more of the cave / shelter / overhang pics
This little hole in the rock hides a fairly roomy little area :

Its not just caves where natives camped once tho that we found , we came across some older buildings of more regular fashion :

There are some giveaways to the age of a place , at least , how long ago it was that people bothered doing fencing and stuff
Tree growth is one of these , in this case , its been a few years I think ...

Hope your weekend is as fun as mine was if not more so :)

Thanks Myal, I enjoyed those pictures. I also just go on wandering walks and find many things interesting. The pic with the swirling tree growth patterns was quite different compared to here.

Upnorth , glad you like the pics .
I love wandering about exploring , finding what is left from those before us . Something about being in a place that its hard to imagine anyone having been there before , and then finding something that says people lived out their lives right there .

Those are great, that fence has had to be there a loong time, thanks for posting

The houses were pretty darn cool as well.

Hi mate! Glad to see your pictures.
It looks like you're exploring quite a lot on private property. Are Aussie landowners generally agreeable towards wanderers? Here in the states you'd likely get run off, shot, or have the sheriff called if on private land without permission. ;)

I've never been to Dunnedoo but it's on my list for the next time I have a day off in Mudgee, where I work quite a bit.
Just got home last week from a work trip to Singleton. Had a couple days off and spent them in the Blue Mountains (Aussie pronunciation: "blue-eeze"). Haven't posted pictures yet, but it was sincerely spectacular. On Monday I leave again, but I'll be up north in Queensland, somewhere inland from Mackay or Rockhampton. There is a Mudgee/Singleton trip planned for January too.

---------

If you haven't been, the Gulgong River National Park and the Munghorn Gap Nature Reserve are worth a tour too, not far from Dunnedoo or Mudgee. Also near Mudgee is a really nice and colorful set of Aboriginal rock art called "Hands on Rock."

Hey I am heading up to Golburn national park for a look - see, Ill have to make time to go check that out while Im up there .

I keep it legal where I go :) we spend a fair bit of time exploring backroads and crown land . We have some cheap but good cameras that make things far away look kinda close . We also photograph a lot of stuff that is just there ...

There are public roads that run thru properties , they are unfenced , there is public access to the banks of watercourses , stock routes and if there is still one , the town common .

This is just a couple days ago , public road , private property tho :

The gates on this shed are actually the property boundary fence too .They open onto the road , tho its been a while since they were atually opened . I snapped it as we went past , I didnt get the dozer or several other vehicles in the shed too .. to me it seems that a snap as were going past is OK , but to stop and methodically photograph their possessions is prying . Maybe it doesnt make a lot of sense , but it is how I feel , you can see there is a morris ( I think ) truck , and a series 1 landrover .. as would anyone who drove past , you cant see what tools are on the walls or anything as if Id stopped and framed up formal shots.

Then there is always that zoom lense and what I want to show vs what is actually there , I want to show this :

but what is actually there is less dramatic .. just this :

Photography is a hobby I like , http://yourshot.nationalgeographic.com/photos/2509091/ this is about as close as I will ever get to being famous for it lol .

but yeah , we do drive /walk around a lot , and we do take pictures of what interests us , tho I keep it legal .

long winded explain .. dunneedoo hasnt got much actually right there but the area around it is pretty good to go exploring in too , Dubbo isnt bad to have a look around in , the tiny old places that used to be towns and villages around there are well worthlooking at if you dont mind exploring back roads

...if you dont mind exploring back roads

Don't mind? I live for it. :D
And photography is a hobby of mine also, although I only carry a point-and-shoot while traveling overseas for work.
Here are a couple of pics from a paddock near Mudgee:
