Let me start by saying I understand that this "nuked" finish isn't for everyone. I'm of the opinion, it is one of those things you either love it or hate it. While I think the Sebenza is a work of art in its' own right, I wanted to have something very unique.
Ok, so now that we have that out of the way...
When researching Sebenzas and trying to decide which one to get I stumbled upon Randy's YouTube channel (SoloKnifeReviews). I instantly fell in love with his "nuked" finish. Not only did I love the weathered industrial look, I really liked that he took a lot of care protecting the working parts of the knifes he worked on. For those aren't familiar with his work, he basically strips the knifes down and protects all of the important areas (pivot, lock face, screw threads, etc) to insure they remain factory. He then does his magic - anodizing, sand blasting, acid washing and stone washing.
The finished look is something that looks like it's straight out of a Mad Max movie - a knife that functions the same as stock, but looks (IMHO) really awesome. I did my best to capture the beauty of the knife. I couldn't be happier with the end result.
My Starbenza was one of two knifes I sent Randy. The second, was a Spyderco Delica with Wilkins TI Grips.
Enjoy!
And my Starbenza and its' Brother from another Mother...
