Years ago I purchased an Alley Cat and Warlock (maybe the best Sykes-Fairbairn type) from a dealer in the south. I've forgotten who it was, it's been over 12 years. The knives have a number on the blade, such as "96". Should this be taken as the year of manufacture 1996, or would it be the 96th knife of this type made?
I wish I could tell you the name of the dealer. If they can reliably bring in Bauchop knives then they deserve an excellent recommendation.
The Alley Cat had a brown shiny bakelite handle. The Warlock a dull grey micarta to match the blade.
I have been offered many times what I paid for these knives. I will not lie to you: I have never been involved in any "occupation" where this sort of knife would be a tool of the trade, but I just can't bear to part with them. I recall that I first heard of Mr Bauchop in an early 1980s issue of Eagle magazine (a Soldier of Fortune knockoff) but it was to be over 20 years later that I finally got to own one of his products.
