Number on blade

Just got my new Spyderhawk and Gunting :D It's a happy day.

May be a stupid question, but my Spyderhawk has "003" etched on the blade just forward of the hole. What does this # signify?

It is a collectors number.I have a blue forum spyderhawk with 003
 
Spyderco numbers the first 1000 pieces of a first run model....looks like you have the third Spydie out of that first run. :D BTW, I do believe that the first 250 go out to collectors.
 
Kinda blows my mind that I got the #003 Spyderhawk from a random eBay purchase. Thanks guys.

Hey, I suggest checking out my post on the Spyderco Collector's Program. I know there are 00 - 201 I believe of collectors' #s (that is 202 #s). I'm pretty sure that is what Alex has in the sample contract. Anyhow, Alex at spyderco would be glad to hear from a few of you if your interested in joining the program.
