I own the ESEE-4 and the HEST and i wonder why the -4 has a number on the pommel while the HEST comes unnumbered. I don't suspect it to be a fake but i wonder which models carry a number and which don't (and why is that)?

Thx in advance.

From Jeff’s post a while back….

Every 3-MIL from the beginning, even the RAT Cutlery ones, were serialized from the beginning. Each serial number was for one knife regardless of style. Same with all Izulas. When we changed the name to ESEE Knives then we started serializing the 3, 4, etc. But again, that serial number is consecutive regardless of the color of the knife, etc.

Except for the HEST, arrowhead and the Lite Machete, all ESEE Knives have a serial number.

So that would explain why my RAT-4 I just stripped did not have a number, but the new ESEE-4's I'm getting in stock do. Thank you. I was kinda wondering about that.
