Hello
I have a small sebenza with a birthdate 23rd of July 2023 and scales marked as C22
I am quite surprised by the difference between the making of the scales and the birthdate of the knife

It is the first time I see such a difference

Do you know if it is common ?

What might really drive you bonkers is when you have a CRK with scales from different quarters ... o_O, I have one or two with mismatched scales; from the factory so not "frankens."

same here...

i also have a sebenza with no markings! wild.

Very common. Scales, Blades, screws, etc…..are made in batches and put together as needed. I also have had different quarters and years on the same knives.

I think they did a large batch of S31 scales third quarter last year. I have seen three smalls made from that time over the past few months.

And yes seems very common for the scales and dates to be off. And mismatched quarters. I even have a small inkosi with scales a year apart.

Ah...so the hypen inside the scales must mean quarters. I always wondered what they meant.

Great tip!

I didn't think they were supposed to match lol. My Sebenzas don't match at all and I bought them new from the dealer; one has handles that say C12 and A13 and the other has handles that say C13 and A14. Maybe there's more of a discrepancy for the ones with natural material inlays if they try to match them up?

It’s more common with the 21’s, especially the left handed Sebenza’s. I had one that had a two year difference. It may have been because it was a W.C. And the lefty’s weren’t flying off the shelf back then. Damn, I’m missing the days when you could actually shop for a while before making a buy.
