Hi everybody!
I am brand new here, but have spent the last three hours scouring this forum (and the internet according to Google) looking for an answer. Here's the question:
I have a Tomcat with cocobolo handles (eBay, 2 years ago, $40!) that has the number 467 stamped on the bolster. What does that number mean? Why is it there? Is it simply to taunt me? To mock me? Why must it torment me so? Why can't it just leave me alone?
Okay, seriously. I found an earlier thread (10/23/2002) that referenced these numbers, but he was just looking for an estimate on the value. No one explained the significance of the mysterious number. I would love to find out that it was part of a limited and numbered edition, but knowing my luck, it will turn out to be the early method of coding factory seconds.
I'm certain that among the fine folks that read this, there will be many who know and are willing to share with one who does not.
