'Nut going stag

Hi all, I recently acquired a stag handled truesharp Case peanut from another member here. I love it, I have always loved stag going back to childhood, it has a certain look and feel about it. The size of the little 'nut did surprise me at first but I have to say it does anything I ask of it with aplomb. The model I received is a single bladed variant with a bail which was great as I hooked it to my mag solitaire as part of my edc. I think I am another of the converted!

I have to say though there are a few downsides to this little 'nut. The pull is pretty heavy for a little guy and the half stop is a real PITA, though I've gotten used to it :) i suppose my only real gripe is that it ain't carbon! I love stag with a well patina'd blade, maybe my next one!

Nice! I didn't know the 'nut has come in a version with a bail...that seems useful! Would love one of those for my key ring.

I wish more 'nuts had bails. It's kind of a natural for a small knife like that, to be mounted on a keychain, or the old style watch chain, or on a flashlight or other edc gear like RR shows. Case, are you listening?

By the way RR, is that the old Solitare, or the new LED one?

I totally agree with you on the bails, I also find it helps with the perceived "innocence" of a blade. It's the new one with the LED, incredibly bright for a little nipper, and waterproof to boot!

I prefer my Knives to be SS. Carbon may be easier to sharpen and all that but I would rather not have to worry about rust etc. Although all of my G.E.C.s are carbon.

Too bad all of my Vintage Case knives were Carbon, some of the blades even well taken care of look not so good.

Nice Stag Nut Rapture. Here's it's brother with a pinned on bail.

Now THAT is some beautiful stag, love the tones. Is she carbon or SS?

I understand the reasoning, for me a carbon blade with a well earned patina tells a story of everything it's cut. Don't get me wrong, SS is great for it's lack of need of maintenance but it just doesn't quite fit for me sand my ideal of traditional knives. Different courses for different horses I suppose.

That be SS. :)

Haha thought so, no worries , still a beauty and case's TrueSharp is pretty decent steel as far as edge holding and such goes, at least as much as I have experienced with my little nut. I have a two blade large trapper in CV with yeller Delrin covers that cuts like nothing else, starting to work on the patina but I don't want to force it. A nice natural patina is the best kind in my humble opinion.
