So we went to "the range" today. Dress isn't exactly standard Army uniform..."God bless SF". ;)

We were firing off a mountain, with another mountain as backstop. We did, however, have to wait until we cleared a goatherder out of the area.

"Range";

Captain on the SAW;

And your boy, of course...

Bleak looking place, Dude. You look like you ought to be at deer camp. Thanks for watching our ass for us and keep watching out for your own. Reminds me I need to do some shootin' myself. Take care.'

The pics are cool, but your situation is worrying me. Take care bro.

Andy, like I said, don't worry 'less I say. Those three items all are luck...or love, more like.

I always enjoy the photos from the other side of the world. Stay safe and thanks again for doing what you do.

Spectre,

Did Franken do his Saddam Hussein routine? And what other entertainers have performed in Afghanistan?

Much of what covers A-stan has been described as moon rocks.

There's a lot more activity at Bagram than at other places in here, so I really couldn't say without a bit of research. I believe there is a website with that type of info...

I didn't hear the Hussein bit, but Franken did a bit of Stallone (who evidently had pulled out of doing a USO tour because it was dangerous...

I like my life!

Waitaminute! Didn't you play %^&*ing RAMBO?!
)

LOL, that's good stuff. I may not agree with the man (at all) but I'll give him props for going over there. Thanks for the pics and stay safe John.

Looks like an Aimpoint on your M4A3. How's the optic holding up?

Center of Mass .....baby, Center of Mass.

Give em hell. And thank you.

The "M68" (Aimpoint) holds up fine in the field, in my experience. I have a Trijicon Accupoint 1-4x scope as well, but the upper for it is still en route. (Since TSA doesn't understand Federal law! They had to think about whether I could bring the scope alone!)

Looks kinda cold the higher you go. That snow covered ridge looks really pretty. I was in a tools surplus shop today and saw an ammo box marked '7.62mm linked which is identical to the magazine box in that picture. My wife has just said I should have bought it. I'll be in there tomorrow.

John;
send me an email

btw- there appears to be no backstop to your shooting range...
