Can People who frequently use their LM to loosen nuts and bolts please coomment on its effectiveness. Please state the model, size of nut and technique. I know Ive seen pages where even the handles of a wave can be used to turn largere nuts. How large? whats the practical limit? 9/16, 1/2 etc.

Apart from that I guess th smaller ones can be turned insuide the jaws of the plier head. Feel free to talk about other multi's as well.

I will be buying one soon and this function is important to me.

You might be better off with a Spyderwrench or just carrying an adjustable. Most multi's are awkward with nuts & bolts mainly due to the nose on the pliers being in the way. They're ok when you have nothing else...but if you know what you need, I'd suggest getting the right tool:cool:

The head of the swisstool is rather blunt and has a good grip on the bolt. I only have taken out one (rather latge) bolt with it and it was pretty comfortable.

A multi-tool pliers is not the best choice for nuts and bolts, but provides an option when a regular tool kit is impractical to carry. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. If I am in "serious" mode, a Nite Ize Pock-it hangs on my belt or in the glove box, stuffed with Leatherman, Mini-Mag and 6 inch adjustable wrench. With these I delude myself into believing I am ready for anything (reality is such a crutch.) :D
