I'm looking for a small, bright flashlight. The Nuwai is only 3.6” and it's Weight is only 2.6 oz. with batteries. The power output is 75 Lumens. Is this a good choice, or is there some thing else better? I'm a flashlight newbie.

Thanks - Ron

It's a great light, especially for the money. I got turned on to it just before Xmas and bought a half dozen of them. I expected to give five as gifts and keep one for myself. My Mom talked me out of the last one so I don't have one of my own, but I carried that one for a couple weeks before Mom discovered it.

Just for reference, I have a dozen flashlights including several Surefires (like the L4 I carry everywhere). I can tell you that the 75 lumens is an exageration. When judged against several LED and Incan Surefires that are rated at 60 lumens, the QIII is probably 45 real lumens. Still a lot of pure white light in a tiny package for a very low price.

Highly recommended.

i agree.........great light for the money.......carry it every day in a custom kydex sheath that holds an extra battery.......45-50 lumens is what it puts out.......nice smooth hot spot and very useful side spill.......Etendue sells the Q III with the kydex sheath for $68 incl. shipping.......great deal

Very nice light for the money. Like jmxcpter said, the 75 Lumen rating is a marketing exaggeration, but don't let that stop you from buying it. It still puts out an impressive amount of light for a flashlight it's size and has one of the nicest cleanest beams I've ever seen produced by a flashlight.

I just got one from a ebay(:^() purchase. Brand new in a blister pack. It was less than $40 which included shipping.
Great little light that the ladies think is real cute. :D

You cannot go wrong with these lights. They are outstanding for their size and brightness for a very low price. I just wish they would offer them in HA III anodizing. I'd be willing to pay more for one if the finish were slightly tougher.

Peter....ther's someone offering them in a Chromed finish on the CPF forum....he stripped down the black finish and had them chromed....dont rememer who...look in BST lights or group buy forums

Another vote for it. Sold me E1e and bought this with the custom kydex sheath from the guy on candlepower. You will not regret it.

The X5 (blech) is about 20 lumens IIRC, making the Nuwai 2.5 times as effective with one less battery and a much better switch. Finish on the Inovas is better, though--the only thing I think they get right.

Thanks. That's interesting, I've never been able to find any numbers for the X5. I like mine, I was looking for a flood with a long burn time and it certainly fit the bill (good price too, I think). I'm a bit skeptical of the numbers anyway (except maybe Surefire's). I was wondering if anyone had direct experience with the Nuwai and could compare it to a light I'm familiar with, like a Surefire G2 or 6P, or maybe an Inova T3? Also, I imagine with a single battery the Nuwai's going to dim down pretty quick, anybody have a realistic burn time for this light?

Thanks.

The beam of the Nuwai is just right, very white and it has the perfect combination of throw and spill. But the finish of the light is lacking.
The pocket clip is useless - but try getting it off.
The crenelated bezel is too sharp and the checkering of the body is a bit too severe.

I still prefer the long runtime, hard anodizing and general fit-and-finish of the Inova X5T.

A QIII beam from a 2 cell Inova-quality body would be the best of both worlds.

T3 more of a spot, 6P feels like better through - from this new QIII user. (who rates it highly)

You could always go and ask the

Got mine, brand new (sealed), from a respectfull seller on Ebay, but it didn't switch on a couple of times, it just wouldn't go on after numerous clicks, or only very low - changed batteries to brand new ones etc - but still had it happen a couple of times that evening.

So I'll pass on it...

BTW, there is a database of flashlight throw and output for several models located here

This chart has been very helpful to me and my purchases.

Agree`d,

for the money, hard to beat. :)

Bought one for my wife also, she really likes hers :D too.
