As discussed in an earlier thread, the 2nd Annual NW Rat Mischief is scheduled for Saturday, August 12th. Last years Mischief was a great success! Hopefully we can add some new names to the roster this year.

For those able to attend, we'll likely meet at the EOC in Stevenson, WA - Skamania County and then head out into the woods from there for hikes, campfires and discussion centered around our favorite blades.

The exact location of the Mischief has not been decided -- all suggestions are welcome. The area is chock full of trees, caves, lava beds, mountains, rivers and sasquatch -- absolutely anything that a group of Rats could hope for. Oh, and there will be plenty of blades for sale at this particular event for those that need your fix. ;)

If folks are interested, there will also be plenty of opportunity to learn some bushcraft (fire/shelter building) from the experienced SAR types.

Please post here if you plan to make it. Again, suggestions are welcome.

Those attending:

1. 360joules
2. DiveRat
3. Caz
4. River 8
5. Dirtling
6. BruceW
7. River 7
8. Dunner
9. Bill Siegle
10.
11.
12.

:D

Ya'll offering any vacation packages with cheap airfare? :D

We could probably pick you up from the airport. :o

That's something anyway. :D

I'll be sure to let you know if we have anyone that can pick you up on their way here. I'm sure that there's someone from that side of the river that wants to join us. :D

Off topic...

DHA, a couple weeks ago my wife and I went to Seaside, OR. One of the shops there had a t-shirt with that "Dead men tell no tales" image on it. Man, I was soo close to buying it just because of BF. Instead, my wife got a "Pirates for Hire" hat. :D

And the image off that t-shirt is exactly where I pirated the image. I came across it online while looking for a good pirate signature item. ;) :D

Yarrrrrrr!

Count me in :) As long as my schedule doesn't change dramaticly between now and then, I'll be there with my Mastiff :D

Updated the list.

BTW, At the helo ops training this past weekend, I spoke with other Rats in the area that are planning to go as well. Hopefully they'll give a shout out!

My estimation so far is 15 rats (people not knives). I can't wait to see this years stump. :D

Here's last years:

Just a couple weeks (+ some) away. Anyone else up for this?

:D

Some discussion has been raised regarding food for this event. While each person brought in their own rations, drinks and snacks last year, we had a feller bring in a boat load of hot dogs to grill for lunch. We could do something similar this year if everyone wants to. We could also upgrade to burgers or something. For those attending, what are your thoughts on this?

It's getting closer...:D

Also, for those in the immediate area, we'll be investigating the Falls Creek Cave area this Sunday for potential Mischief sites. Shoot me an email or PM if you'd like to join us.

Well, Rats, we've scouted out a couple of sites for the Mischief this coming weekend. We'll be in an area that has a great view of Mt Hood and surrounding area and also the Perseid Meteor Showers. For the spelunkers among us, this site will be very near to the Falls Creek Cave, which is a lava tube that is over 1/2 mile long (at least that's as far as I've gone). This promises to be a GREAT time!

In the evening, we've arranged a bit of a cookout, so come hungry! We're guessing that there will be 12-20 Rats there. :D

A pic from inside Falls Creek Cave...
(for perspective, that bit of blue you see on the lower right side of the rock pile is my wife making her exit climb. ;))
