NW Ranger question

Hi,
could anyone tell me if the ranger is available in a plain edge version? I realy like the design but hate serrations and find them not very practical. Or perhaps SOG are planning to make a plain edge version?

Also what sheath comes with the Ranger? I bought a Goverment a while ago and it arrived with Kydex, but nylon was advertised. Not complaining though I realy like the kydex sheath, it was quite a nice suprise when I opened the box:)

As far as I know the NW ranger only comes with serrations. I personally like serrations, since they work well for rope, etc.
The .SOG site lists the NW Ranger as coming with a leather sheath.

If I recall correctly (taxing my poor little brain...) the NW Ranger is/was endorsed by a hunters/ anglers/ outdoors group, but can't recall. It was in the big 2001 catalogue which of course I can't find...

shame its only available serrated though. Perhaps SOG could be persuaded to do a plain edge?:p

The main use for my outdoors knives are cutting/carving wood and baton work so serrations would offer no advantages for me realy. I do however have to cut a lot of rope/line at work but find a razor sharp plain edge cuts better than a serrated. Leather sheath Eh? sounds good as leather is my favorite sheath material.

So how about it SOG? make version plain edge? I think it would sell well;)
 
You may want to consider the Field Knife , or the Field Pup when it becomes available.
I just got my Field Knife...:D ... VERY nice. Now I will Cocobolo the handle...:cool: I may get the blade BC coated too:D
 
I'd prefer plain edge as well but will buy another as is to replace mine which was stolen during my recent move to a new apartment.

I don't care for the the new Field and Field Pup because what I really like about the NW Ranger is the handle. Fits me perfect and never gets slippery.

Any one know of a good source for Rangers? I need to order one to replace mine.

BTW mine is an older version and came with a heavy nylon sheath. I'd prefer Kydex but the nylon is a better wet weather sheath than leather.

Thanks for your comments. The NW Ranger used to come in a nylon sheath but now comes in a leath sheath. We have no plans on making this knife in a non-serrated version.
