I know the type you mean and have the same. The NYS Penal law states possession of a "stiletto" is a crime under certain circumstances. That said this is a lock back and not a true "stiletto", but there is no specfic definition of "stiletto" in the NYS Penal Law....there in lies the problem. Most officers would consider it a lock back as long as it can not be flicked open ( therefore a gravity knife). The other issue with this type of knife is that it is designed to be more of a weapon( long slender bayonet blade, finger guards at the hilt)and a Officer could pretty well define this as the all inclusive "dangerous knife" since it is designed more as a weapon than a usefully pocket knife. All that said, I think it is better to leave it at home as part of the collection. In NYS you can not confiscate a weapon with out charging the person .
