Hello Reevaholics,

For those of you who missed my review on the Custom Forum, here are some pics of the NY Show (didn't want to come here empty handed for my questions :) ).

Chris Reeve with my friend Neil Ostroff of True North Knives

A closeup of the knives...love that camo finish! (oh, and I believe that was the original, signed Green Beret knife)

Ok, now my questions...I have never been much of a Sebenza fan but D@MN those One Piece knives are awesome! I definitely want to get one...but which one? I prefer the larger models and I am looking at the Jereboam and the Project 1...which would you choose and why? Can you please post some pics of these two? Are there any plans to do the 1 piece line in S30V? Are there any other BIG models in the works??

Thanks,
RL

What model is that camo? Looks like the 3rd one down is a Nkonka, and going by comparative blade lengths, I'd say the camo is a Sable II, and the one between the two is a Sable I. Can anyone confirm this?

Is the Sable II back in production, or is that a new model 7.5" Sable? Either way, I really want one of these.

It's definitely a Sable though I'm not sure which one...

BTW, that new camo finish is INCREDIBLE...it really looks good in real life...according to the price list, it's a $25 option (hopefully available on all models)

Hello to RL and the rest of the Reevaholics,

The Camo knife in question is a SABLE (no number- just a SABLE) and it has a 7" blade.

Take care, Neil

PS- Chris made a special all Damascus Bowie for the Plaza Cutlery Show last month- it was a one-of-a kind piece made in his private shop (not the CRK production shop) and it sold for $6,000.00

RL, just FYI, the Sable I is a 9", and the II is 7". According the Anne, neither are being produced currently, but the Sable I is still listed on the Midwest Gun Exchange site.

7.5" seems like an ideal size for this style blade, if this is a currently available option, I would order it in a microsecond.

Got the 5.5" Aviator recently (my first 1-piece). haven't had a chance to put it through a good workout yet, but I did use it to slice a couple pounds of frozen fish into chunks tonight, went through it like it was butter. The feel from the blade is incredible, a one-piece knife is as solid and responsive as they come.

As for your S30V question, this is not an option, nor do I think you'd want this in a larger blade. The Nkonka is available in CPM3V, it would be nice if CRK offered this for other models... wait and see (a little begging might help too).

Ahhh yes, CPM3V...great on a big knife like the Jereboam...hmmm, CPM3V, camo Jereboam...

I did buy that Camo Sable 7" that RL showed in his photo- coming in in the next day or so.

I will post it on the site this weekend.

Thanks, Neil

Neil, no need to update your web page, can you reserve this for me (AP, I ordered the Snakewood Mnandi from you about a week ago)? I can phone in my order by noon today.
The color isn't really an issue.

There is an old adage that runs something like A mess-up is not a mess-up until you can't fix it - and that's what the Sable being discussed here is! Someone boobooed a Project blank and it was turned into the Sable.

RL, since this thread has been mostly ignored re your Q, what do you plan to use the knife for? While I haven't used any of larger CRK knives yet, I would say that the Project I is a better general purpose blade, the Jereboam looks to be a heavier chopping blade while still retaining some slicing ability. The Project also has serrations, do you need this?

Personally, for a chopping blade in the +9" size I would get an HI Khukuri.

When choosing a particular model, you need to take into consideration what you will be using the knife for and what pleases your eye. Think where the following profiles fit into these criteria:

- The Project models have a 7.5 inch blade - the PI has a spearpoint, the PII has a clip point. Both have wavy serrations on the cutting edge up at the hilt.
- We offer four versions of the 9 inch blade - Shadow I (spearpoint), Jereboam Mk II (clip point), Sable I (upswept blade with straight back edge), Tanto I (chisel point).

To answer the second part of the question - we have no plans to make the one piece range in S30V and there are no large models in the planning!

Thanks everyone, I'm leaning toward the Project 1...the Jereboam is still an awesome piece...here it is with hadron's Sable (pic courtesy of Neil)...that's a beautiful piece you got hadron!

I was hesitant about getting that camo model, don't need it for tactical applications (and hopefully never will), but the photos don't really do it justice. The finish is actually much more subtle than the pics show.

It appears that the camo is strongly adhearing paint applied over the Kalgard coating. The logo stamp is less destinct (more filled in) than on a standard black model, and the camo blade has a rough, primer-like, feel to it. Guessing this extra layer of protection will be a good thing once I actually get around to using the knife.

And a used and abused one this one will be, looks tough with the 1/4" spine. Too bad winter in the Badger State doesn't offer much for me other than trying to cut into ice with a snowboard edge. Oh, well, time to refocus my sharpening skills ;)
