I shot a nice deer the other day, my first for the season, and finally got a chance to test out my new Nyala. Field dressing went pretty effortlessly, considering it was dark and raining by the time I got done. The knife performed great. The short broad blade did make it seem a bit more difficult than usual to free up the large intestine from the carcass, but I might just need more practice with it. The blade shape really works well for skinning, though. The edge held up just fine, didn't seem to need a touch up when I was done. Sorry for the lousy photo, all I had was my phone.

Awesome. I have always wondered how the Nyala would perform in field dressing.

Congrats on the buck. I don't have a Nyala, but the good steel, straight handle, and plenty of belly should make it a great deer knife.

Nice! Been partial to the Bark River knives for field dressing but I have been eyeing the Nyala as well lately. Thanks for the input...I see one in the near future, or at least before next deer season
