Nyala for EDC?

For about the past two hours, I have been researching/reading up on the Nyala and have decided that this little fixed blade is going to be my next CRK. What I was curious about is if anyone uses it for EDC....lately, I've been thinking of carrying a fixed blade along with my Para 2 and I think that this one would fit the bill nicely. As mentioned in some of the threads that I've read, the Nyala is basically a 'fixed-bladed' Sebenza.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Hi Haze....I noticed that you had posted on some threads on how much you like the Nyala. Not too sure about that leather sheath, but it does look very well made.....is it true that you have to 'break it in' before you can resheath with one hand? I read that until it's broken in, the resheathing is a two handed job.

The sheath that came with my Nyala was good to go from day one.

Will the Nyala be good for slicing and other camping chores, as well as a bit of bushcraft?

I think there are better grinds out there such as the flat or convex grind. It will do very well for you though.

Just ordered a Nyala from NGK! Thanks for the feedback.

I have a Mora for camp and kayak cooking, and some great Japanese knives at home.

I suppose that it may vary from sheath to sheath, but I had read that one owner had issues with the resheathing. Just curious....

Thanks

These pics, courtesy of PiterM, REALLY won me over on the Nyala. Love the thickness of the wider blade when compared to the Sebbie.

Simply beautiful perfection.....

That's weird....not sure why pics aren't showing. Copied and pasted them from a thread here on BF.....will check on them when I get home since I am mobile right now.

You need to copy the address and use that to insert the image, you can't just copy the pic and paste it in a post.........if that's what you did ?

Any hoo,

Here is a wee pic to tide you over for now. :)

Awesome pic...

As for the ones I had put up, I did copy the url and inserted it the way I always do....didn't just copy it. Oh well, I'll check/fix it later.

Thanks.

Thank you my good man, it's not too bad given it was taken with my phone.
Well that's even more impressive.
You see Dave, all you need is an iphone4 instead all of that nice photo equipment.

I edc a custom that is roughly the size and shape of the nyala. I'm currently looking for the right sebenza or manandi to go with it. I think the nyala would make a good edc with a folder tto acompany it

I edc mine on the weekends in concert with a folder. I got one of the first ones out, and have never really had too much of a problem with the sheath.

There is a piece of leather that applies pressure to the knife so it stays in the sheath - as you remove / replace the knife the blade cuts away at the leather and removes small pieces. After a while there is enough material removed that the knife slides in and out of the sheath easier.

Be careful if you leave the extra long lanyard tied to the knife - every time I walk thru the kitchen the lanyard catches one of my drawer pull knobs.:D

My thoughts exactly.........in my case, I think it would be a great complement to my Para 2 since my Large Regular Sebbie is on vacation. :D

Thanks for the info on the sheath...sounds like a keeper for me since I don't think I'd be too fond of a kydex sheath over the leather for EDC.

I've tried reposting the pics, but still getting the same outcome. So, I thought that instead I'd just post the thread with the pics HERE(post #5) if anyone is curious.
