Hello everyone. Besides Paragon Sports, where else should a knife seeker go in NYC??

Paragon has fairly amount of custom collection, but production knives are poorly stocked. They only have 3-4 Benchmade model, about the same amount of Spydercos. Which do not satisfy my needs.

Any New Yorker knows where else to go?

To the internet. When I lived in NYC, I bought more from mailorder than the street. There are stores with knives in the windows -- I used to pass a couple of them on Lexington Ave -- but they were too expensive.

I was recently in NYC and had the same problem in finding a shop with knives. Paragon Sports was expensive. However, there's a little place in the beginnings of Harlem on Lexington Ave called EZ Pawn that stocks a limited range of Spydercos. I got a good deal on a Stretch there. You can get there by taking the green subway that runs along Lexington Ave. People there were friendly too.

So am i :) But there are many products that I wish I could held them in hand to know I like it or not! I am just a bit sick an tired of purchasing online, don't like it, return it. Kind of wasting postal fee on my end.:thumbdn:

Still online knives are cheapest/best way to go, yet, quality control is sometime questionable.

What kind of customs did Paragon have in stock when you visited? I haven't been there in a while.

I generally shop on the Internet too. Although I've bought a few knives on impulse from large chain stores.

Heres's a few that I found in the NYC yellow pages..

Eastern Mountain Sports
Address: 591 Broadway, New York, NY 10012
Phone: (212) 966-8730

Big chain store , they carry a small selection of Benchmade, CRKT, Buck etc.
The store near me is not that big , but I don't live in NYC.

Galaxy Army & Navy Store
(212) 631-0359
124 W 30th St Frnt 3
New York, NY 10001

They have all kinds of stuff and there's quite a few of this type of store in NYC. You just have to look for them in the yellow pages.

Sports Authority
Address: 636 Avenue Of The Americas, New York, NY 10011
Phone: (212) 929-8971

Another chain store, the one near me has a disappointing selection of everything.

The Victorinox shop at West Broadway and Prince Street carries every Victorinox knife and multi-tool.

Henry Westpfal Co., 107 W. 30th Street near Broadway, carries a big selection of Buck knives and Vic SAKs. It also offers knife sharpening while you wait. I just bought a Buck Squire there today.

I bought a Gerber EZ-Out for too much money at an Eastern Mountain Sports once. Don't let me near those stores. If it's not a jacket or a pair of boots, I'll buy books or toys or ... gaahhh ... I can't seem to get out for less than $75. :D

There's one by Columbus Circle, a block up from the Coliseum, across from the Bible Society.

Wuyeah, you have to come to the knife show next week. That's how you get to handle different kinds of knives!
