I just got back from NYCKS not too long ago and figured since its winding down (tomorrow), I'd make a thread where everyone can post pics of the knives, gear or whatever they scored at the show. Even if you didn't get anything, feel free to contribute pics/vids of the show if you have any. As always, it was an excellent show- great knives and great company. I always love talking to the fellow knife nuts there even if its briefly. Even if I don't get anything, its fun to just go and hang out with my father and this time, my friend Gosdent. But being the knife nut I am, I'm always looking for the next "fix". :D I was originally planning on getting a Sebenza when I went but wound up leaving with something even better (IMO)- a Brian Tighe 'Tighe-Coon'. My father also bought the 'Tighe-Breaker' which is his first custom piece. Now, on to the pics!

I went and was very tempted, but didn't open my wallet. I had a good conversation with Bud Nealy and showed him my Y2K that I bought from him in 1999. I had a good conversation with the folks from Dozier and spoke with Dan about a rare Dozier hatchet I have. I got it at the same 1999 NYC knife show where I got the Nealy knife mentioned above. He said he made it and said they made less than 20 of them.

There was an amazing amount of eye-candy there. Lots of very lovely knives and I almost picked up a couple of slipjoints.

The one thing I did come away with was the realization that I'm a big Dozier fan. I handled more of his knives and was just impressed by the quality. Not over built but built to perform their designated task well. Nothing unnecessary. So many knife makers have gone the way of the super thick knife. Sure, that's great for a few task, but the majority of my knife uses are simple cutting chores. I really appreciate how well designed to cut the Doziers are. I regret not getting one of his fillet knives.

It's definitely a great time even if you don't buy anything. Its cool that you were able to get some info on your pieces all these years later. While Doziers knives are not my favorite, I must agree that they are purpose-built knives. Very comfortable and carry-friendly as well.

It was a great time bro, thanks for taking me!

The show was definitely sick; in one day I got to handle a ton of knives that I've only ever seen photos of. That and I bought my first Emerson from Droppoint, a CQC-7v, so I new I wouldn't be getting a blade at the show but I don't care, I love this thing! I did however pick up a Hinderer aluminum Extreme Duty pen in black, which is just so damn cool. That and I got to meet a lot of the makers I admire and chat face to face with the people behind the tools I love to use. It was an amazing time.

Glad you enjoyed it bro! And im glad you like the CQC-7 so much. It'll do you more good than just sitting in my knife case.

WOW! Beautiful scores! I love that XM- the bowie shape looks sick. The bolsters on that Frederick are amazing as well!

Thanks for the pics guys. Some great scores and that clipped Hinderer is niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice!!
